View Full Version : is 600mg xl too much ikgbixcal 09-25-08, 10:07 PM took one 300mgxl then 5 hours took another this one i took the sheel off. i did this yester day too and felt 100% straight no worrys no problems at all Captain Sanity 09-26-08, 01:19 AM I have taken up to 1000 mg, but it made me pretty anxious. The higher you go the more chance of seizures. ikgbixcal 09-26-08, 07:26 PM I have taken up to 1000 mg, but it made me pretty anxious. I was on 300 mg XR in the am and 150 mg XR in the pm for depression and my doctor wanted me to lose the evening dose, so I did. So far, so good, but I've been on it for a long time (several years) now and don't know if it could be cumulative in any way. Captain Sanity 09-26-08, 08:14 PM dang dude. 600mg with 90mg of vyvanse and 120mg of cymbalta made my pupels so dilated and i could barly see It was a judgement error. I was driving across the country and coldn't stay awake, so I took 7 of them. It did keep me alert, but I felt anxious and out of whack for about a week after that. When wellbutrin came out the first time, the reccomended dose was 600. Taking more is beneficial, but at 600 the seizure rates are 2.8% which is too high so they cut the max reccomened dose to 450 and the therapeutic dose to 300. Taking more is probably safe for most people, though. ikgbixcal 09-26-08, 10:47 PM yea if ya never had a history of seizures in your family or if you have never had one it should be fine. everyday i take 2-3 thing that lower the seizure threshold and ive never had a seizure. Captain Sanity 09-27-08, 12:06 AM I've actually wondered about it as an ADD treatment at high doses. It seemed like when I was taking 300 instead of 150 I was a lot more together than I am now (aside from when I take adderal). If the adderal didn't work for me I was going to try to get my doc to take me up to 450 or 600 and see if that helped. ToneTone 09-27-08, 02:49 AM Wellbutrin has been a lifesaver for me. I love it! ... I ran into a GlaxoSmithKline rep while going to the doctor recently and I thanked her. That's how much I love it. Anyway, I'm on 450 mg and I would love to be on 600 mg, but as I understand it, the rate of seizures increases like 10 fold between 450 and 600. Ten-fold. Now, I don't know if that is absolutely true, but that's what I read. So right now, I won't go above 450. But hopefully the makers of XL will figure out a way to lessen that seizure risk. Oh Lord, I would love to be on 600mg. Wellbutrin has helped me so much with focus, controlling impulses, feeling organized, and effective in the world. Captain Sanity 09-27-08, 03:17 AM Do you get a good effect off of 300? Does your effect seem to scale linearly, or do you get a lot more out of 450 than 300? Maybe at some point I will move up on my wellbutrin. Your chance of seizing, as ikgbixcal pointed out, is probably a lot lower if you have no history of it in your family. The chance is ten times higher, but at 450, the chance is the same as among the general populance. It's also probably weight dependent so if you are a guy you likely have even less chance. Still, I wouldn't do it driving as I foolishly did. I drove through all of georgia in the right lane in case I started to feel strangely. At 4000mg the chance gets close to 100%, so it's not something you really want to take willy nilly, though. ToneTone 09-27-08, 06:33 PM I got good effect at 300, but I was taking it only for depression at that point. The XL was definitely better for me than Zoloft at 50mg or 100 mg. Zoloft had zapped my sex drive. Plus, it just sort of chilled me out. On zoloft, my brain was, "problem? .... don't ... worry .... let it ... go.." on wellbutrin, my brain was like "problem!? What problem?! Let's kick some @#$!" I went up to 450 because I was having a serious impulse control problem, and the different from 300 to 450 mg was huge. In fact, it was the effect on 450 that led me to think, "wait a minute ... this isn't just depression that's being treated, I feel organized, I feel a quiet brain ..." It was the effect on 450 that led me to suspect I had adhd. I had to experience a quiet focused mind before I noticed how unfocused my mind was .... I have no seizure history in my family. Yes, I know 450 is the max FDA recommended dosage, but the effect on my life is such that being on the max doesn't really bother me at all. Captain Sanity 09-27-08, 08:55 PM At the max recommeneded dose there is no signifigant chance for seizures. Thanks for your reply. Now I am more curious than ever about trying it at a higher dose. Out of curiousity, are you more of a hyperactive/impulsive or an inattentive/SCT type? Wellbutrin seems to be in the "mild stimulant" category. It's potency as a stimulant is much less than Ritalin/Adderall (from what I know.) But I seem to notice that more hyperactives/combined(s) in this forum mention positives from Wellbutrin, than inattentives. speedo 09-28-08, 07:05 AM In testing researchers found that wellbutrin was as effective a treatment for adhd as methylphenidate. I think 600mg is way too high, most people get results at 150 mg. But, if you are at that dose and not having seizures , count yourself lucky and go with the results. Me :D ikgbixcal 09-28-08, 04:47 PM i think 600 is the best for me. 600mg of wellbutrin isnt bad your not gonna have a seizure. most people have seizure's when they take dose's of the non extended release wellbutrin. for exsample some1 taking wellbutrin takes a regular wellbutrin say 600 mg that is 600mg going threw ya system while when taking the xl version is realses the drug slowly for over 24 hours. ya get wat im saying. taking 600mg of xl isnt bad The ADHD Fan 09-28-08, 05:11 PM I'd be careful with that. Generally, when taking Wellbutrin or other antidepressants for ADD, relatively low doses are effective. The higher dosing often functions mainly to fight co-occuring problems such as depression, etc. 300 mg, 3x a day is the abosolute max I'd ever go with. As far as the seizures are concerned, Wellbutrin was pulled off the market in the 1980's and was not allowed back on until the dosing was re-organized to lower levels. So there is a lot of truth to what most of these other posters are saying. Doing 600 mg within a relatively short period of time may be playing with fire, even if you don't have a history of seizures. Just don't want anything bad to happen to you! pmac 10-02-08, 12:36 AM Originally posted in a one year old Concerta thread. However It might suit a newer more active thread as it pertains to the Wellbutrin as well. <HR style="COLOR: #d1d1e1" SIZE=1> <!-- / icon and title --><!-- message --> Old thread I know. New here. Just thought I would post what I have been prescribed to get some input opinion etc. 2x54mg Concerta every morning at about 7am 450mg (1x150mg,1x300mg) Wellbutriin every morning at about 7am 1x25mg Seroquel at bed time Then theres other unrelated stuff like lipitor Singulair Nexium Symbicourt Domperidone and some sleeping aid Zolin..2x10mg nightly, something I don't have it in front of me and can never remember the name of it. I seem to see that 72 mgs of this Concerta is considereed the max and 450 Wellbutrin, but I am a fairly large human at just under 300lbs. Others have experience in thins field care to input? I am disorganized dont like leaving the house. Serious depression lately talking about dying. I stopped the Singulair last week to test rumors about it. No change as of yet, just that I am not as bad as the weekend past.(rough weekend in this house) Thanks pmac Edit: I still need two jumbo coffees to wake up in the AM. Is there nothing that can just give me physical get up and go? (not mental) |
