:) Well...It has been just shy of a week (Tuesday) since starting my new script of adderall and today I have really started to notice some significant changes. Typically before adderall I would have sat on my **** all weekend long looking for something new and exciting to come along or drinking wine hoping that may liven things up lol (sad I know). I am happy to report:
#1 I have had only 1 sip of wine on Friday night and I didn't like it at all.
#2 I have tidied up everything I have been putting off for months in just a matter of days, not in a manic way - just efficiently.
#3 I do not loose my train of thought as easily, when I feel like I might, I re-grasp the thought easier instead of stumbling in my head to re-think what I was trying to accomplish before the thought even started.
#4 I am not even trying or noticing that I am actually putting things completely away in the house; like my shoes which are usually scattered around the house wherever they were last worn (sometimes up to 4 or 5 pair in addition to the kids shoes also), the vacuum cord (lol might seem small but huge to me) - usually this is thrown over the top of the vacuum handle in whatever way took the least amount of time to accomplish.
#5 My time management seems to be adjusting itself accordingly. By this, I mean it just seemed like before the meds there was never enough time to get anything done in a day where as now I am getting extra time in even woohoo!
#6 I seem to be less agitated by noise when I am typing and such. I used to be yelling at the kids non stop because they were playing and I had work to finish.
#7 I always felt so mentally exhausted, like ALL the time(anyone else?) and I havent really felt that way since the meds which is very pleasing ;-)

Go Adderall!!!
Of course, this is not all without side effects that I am doing my best to get past. I have had ALOT of headaches, and a flucuating appetite but I have overall been hardly hungry.

Just wanted to update, because I am feeling alot more optimistic than I was when I first landed here and the people here have been great giving feedback ;-)

Thanks!! I am hoping the headaches go away soon, starting to wonder if my dose is too low actually since its more later in the day and at night always.

I used to have those headaches too.. but I found out it was from lack of caffeine... I decided to just stick it through and eventually they went away after my first 2 weeks. You should also be drinking tons of water. I drink enough so that I don't have cotton mouth. This helped with the headaches also. If you need to, take some Advil to get rid of the headaches. It works.

Update: Up and downs....uggg. Today around 3/4 hours after taking my adderall I just like zoned out or hyperfocused on one thing for like 2 or 3 hours. Oh well, everything is up and down starting new meds and I am optimistic still ;-)

I had to play with things a bit to rid my headaches and appetite see saw. It may sound crazy but I halfed my dose and doubled my frequency. So instead of 20mgs @ 4x per day I would take 10mgs 8x per day. It worked for me and my doctor was actually impressed at my dedication.

Also be careful to take holidays (they suck) to keep the meds working. My doctor never mentioned that and I read it in these forums (thankfully).

Good Luck

PS... OOOH.. Sorry I just saw that you are on XR. That alone gave me the exact ups and downs you are describing. It also seemed the XR kind of worked on and off through the day as it wanted too. Still helpful but I was not as stable on it. You might consider IR? Or XR in the am and IR after lunch?

TY Natalie..... I am thinking about the on and off effects myself lately. I am being really patient (unlike me normally lol) so if this is still happening I will surely talk to the pdoc about the poss of IR as opposed to XR ;-)
