Hi.. Newbie here....37M..I've been taking Adderall IR for ADD for 6 days 20mg 2X per day and have loved the difference it's made in my life. I have finally felt the control I've been wanting since before highschool. My anger is gone and I can actually focus on work. I've had trouble sleeping though so today I tried a 10mg dose and I feel jittery, a little dizzy, and my heart is racing. Has anyone else had an experience of a lower dose causing more side affects?

Yes, actually. I had that experience. I took 10mg a day (am currently nursing, so off meds) and when I took 5mg for awhile before getting pregnant, it ramped me up more than the 10. Odd.... take as prescribed and then talk to the doc about how to proceed. GL! The sleeplessness will improve over time, but consider talking to your doc about taking 20 mg once and then 10 sometime midday. GL! :-)

Thanks for the reply so quick... It's my assumption that the lower dose is not enough to offset the dopamine and so it has more of a caffeine effect... I'm going to take my other 10mg right now...

Y'know what... that is a really interesting theory. It also gave me an 'aha' moment about the jittery, yucky feeling at the end of the day. As the adderall wears off (for me) that is also a caffeine-like feeling.

Huh. I'll have to talk to my doc about that.
