Have you done it a long time?
......I did meth 22 years, and was clean a year, found I was ADHD
and they don't work as well as they would if I had'nt, but they DO work. (somewhat)

I have the same problem. I abused amphetamines for a couple years, and I'm stimulant sensitive, so the drugs caused powerful effects for me. Then I moved on to alcohol addiction.

Now I'm sober, and everything's been boring for a long time. I wonder if I'll ever get my normal "state of consciousness" back... :(

Its an open question very hard to define i guess. Usually the brain gets re-loaded, and you should be fine. ( I know a lot of people who did drugs-more than me, and theyre ok) I was talking some drugs over a time, and went into a terrible depression. When i got rid of that and got back on track again, I felt normal and super. . but kinda comes back to me, and now I dont now if my ADD symptons are because of the drugs, or if Ive always been like this :)

Neurotoxicity totally depends on the substance you're ingesting. Very few things will literally cause receptor burn out.

IV meth? Yep
Alcohol? Yep
MDMA? yep

I could see glutamate toxicity from NMDA antagonists like ketamine, dxm, pcp.

I wonder what the day to day effects of neurotoxicity are, meaning how they effect normal functioning (school, work, relationships, etc...)
