Unfortunately, it is no longer being manufactured.

Its a shame, because this was a very good drug, and the hepatotoxicity was greatly exaggerated...

Yes, pemoline is available legally. It is still being manufactured in generic form I believe.

It is still "legal", but it is not manufactured in the US. I wish it was, as it was an excellent medication.
This is from the FDA website:


The Agency has concluded that the overall risk of liver toxicity from Cylert and generic pemoline products outweighs the benefits of this drug. In May 2005, Abbott chose to stop sales and marketing of Cylert in the U.S. All generic companies have also agreed to stop sales and marketing of this product (Pemoline tablets and chewable tablets).

Again, the cases of hepatotoxicty were quite rare.

The drug should have simply been given a black box warning...
