I have never liked cooking shows, nor especially enjoyed cooking...just eating.
The play I directed was a comedy that took place in a kitchen, so for inspirtion I watched Ramsy's Kitchen Nightmares religiously (not Hell's Kitchen I don't like that at all), and I caught Iron Chef a few times as well.
The play is over and I still am watching the show. Go figure.
Any fans of these cooking shows? What makes them so addictive?

I like that show to. Those people he tries to help out really **** me off. They are so stubborn and never listen - makes me want to vomit. I don't know why I watch it, but I think that is what makes me keep watching it oddly enough. The one I especially love/hate was the episode where he tried to help out the guy that was into making pizzas. I beleive this was last season or maybe a season before that. That guy had to be the most stubborn person on there yet.

I like all his suggestions on how to improve things. He can be very caring with a cooperative group. One woman accused him of ruining her business...but she had a chef who kept the kitchen filthy. One owner fought to keep paintings up that had some knickers as part of the mantage...why invite Ramsay to help you improve your business if you're not going to take his advice? He's a huge success and he made it at a fairly young age.
Have any of the shows had his ideas themselves utterly flop? I mean, no fault of the owners but his advice just didn't work for them.

I've often wondered that myself. Why the hell do these people agree to have him on the show, then act like complete morons when he gets there and tries to help. Sometimes I think that crap is scripted. Who wants to watch a show that's not filled with drama right? But then again, that could just be them being very stubborn - that is the reason their business if failing in the first place.

There was a marathon on today, but I didn't watch it, I'd seen them all. I wasn't in the mood for reruns. It's a bit of a mystery...seeing which ones make it and which ones flop. I don't think it's scripted, though I couldn't help thinking when in one episode he took off his shirt to put on his chef's jacket the line from Galaxy Quest...
"I see you managed to get your shirt off."

I like this show. I can't stand stuff like Hell's Kitchen but I find Kitchen Nightmares interesting.
That woman who claimed he ruined her business was nuts.
