I once saw a Dutch philosophical documentary titled 'een schitterend ongeluk'

That sums it up real fine, you can translate it very roughly as 'a shining misfortune'

For me,
I'm attentive to many things
I can see things happening, perhaps on things nt'ers might not see
I can focus on hobbies or projects that interest me-HARDCORE
I can think fast on my feet in crisis

How about you?

To me it means relief to finally understand why I am the way I am. It takes feeling stupid to feeling understood...at least here in the forum. :)

ADHD gives me the ability to see a perspective that my NT partner has to struggle to see. I can think so far out of the box that the box becomes irrelevant.

It also gives me the drive and desire to explore a wide variety of things.

For me it means that all the negative comments I've received throughout my life had no basis and the positive ones describe only a tad of the things I am actually able to accomplish.

And that's a good thing.

That I have the same truimps and struggles as a Nt'r has
Only difference is a need to stay focused a bit more.

Need to keep focus on the projects and not those bunnies of distraction
They CAN be good distractions...for the right times...

May treat myself to a bunny distraction, once a goal has been completed.

Breaks like this, help energize the spirit; refreshed and ready to start again.

Thanks cool looking Energizer Bunny for the recharge!! :)

A curious mind that can see that many of the things people do in the name of being like everyone else are affecting their ability to experience happiness and peace. The ability to question social mores, a healthy distaste for mistreatment of others, not enjoying taking advantage of another, a sense of fairness, an ability to cut thru the crap and get to the meat of the issue.

A simple joy in learning something new even if it's not useful.

A quick smile, openness and you're never too old to wiggle.

Wow....took the words right out of my mouth. Whereas my NT associates are usually content thinking inside the box, I find the "box" is usually boring and I more often than not find myself looking, as my signature quote says, "outside the scope of the lens to find the whole truth".

That alternative ADD way of thinking, which when harnessed is an amazing attribute, is what helps us to progress individually as human beings and collectively as a society.

My thoughts exactly!, when I received my diagnosis, I became quite relieved, to know I wasn't crazy. I was actually concerned prior to going to that last appt, that I would be told that I didn't have ADD/HD, that the issues and problems with my memory and attention were all due to a "brain tumor" or something of the sort. Knowing I have ADD, provides a reason for the way I am. :p

Ahhh, an alternative way of thinking. I def think outside the box, see the bigger picture! Sometimes, I wonder why the "intelligent people" or non-ADDer's don't think of these things, things that I think are simple common sense. We have our own brain style! Ya know I was reading in a book a long list of positve adult ADD characteristics, and it makes me wonder, "then what is wrong with the rest of the world", the list makes us ADD'ers out to be the higher power (so to speak)

It means I listen to what people say, but don't hear a word of it.
I feel like if I keep still I'll burst and if I open my mouth I'll make a fool out of myself.
That if 'other' people find out I'm ADHD that they'll label me as an idiot and treat me differently. It means my judgement isn't always great and I may not fully understand what's going on around me.

But I don't care.

I love being able to bounce around and muck about, I love being able to run for 10k and then go for another 5, I love being full of beans and revel in the fact that I can be fascinated by the world around me that others merely walk by without a second glance.

It does sometimes get me down, but I love being different, even if it means that some people label me, judge me and occasionally lock me up for misunderstanding me:rolleyes:

To me it's:

Growing up and testing very high on those standardized tests, and nearly failing every grade.

Stopping while typing this to find another good song to listen to, and trying like hell to focus again to finish typing.

Seeing projects at work go unfinished. Thank God I'm in management now. I can just delegate what I don't finish to someone else :)

Being so different, but finally feeling like I'm cool because I still feel like a kid on the inside.

Procrastinating EVERYTHING...

On a final note, I have been trying to get out the door to get dinner for two hours... I'm not really doing anything at all. I can't count how many times I've skipped meals that way! Not sure if it's because I can't think of what to go get.
