If I take a 30 mg generic adderall IR and split it up 3 times throughout the day, would it be the same as taking an adderall XR? also if i decide I don't like the regular adderall, can I get a script for the XR filled even though it hasn't been 30 days?

usually if you are titrating, you dont get a 30 day supply. but the doc should be able to switch you to xr slowly, he/she can either ask for the remaining xr, or perscribe xr in adition to the currrent ir, or just wait out a week or two. its all up to the doctor.

also spliting up 30mg's into 3 10's isnt quite what xr is... xr is one dose... like 25mg that is slowly broken down over the course of 6-8 hours. i never had it, and i really dont want it since i want to be able to be not on meds the whole day.

adderall xr 30mg is two doses. 15mg adderall is released immediately while 15mg is released after 4-6 hours. The med is supposed to last 12 hours if your lucky

12 hours? what.... being that lucky you might as well play lottery. normal ir only lasts me around 3 hours, and xr wont last me 4x that :-(

well yeah, the sheet may say that, and to an extent its true... the amphetamines will be in your system for about that long, however the true effect wears off alot quicker... my ir is supposed to last 5-6 and only lasts 3-3.5 though even after 4 hours it still has an effect, just not as helpfull as needed

well thats what its marketed for , not that it matters I guess. I guess atleast xr's out there as an option to add to ir to smoothen the effects

meh, xr is not an option to me because of costs, and also because i dont want to have long lasting dosages, id rather have short ones and take them more frequently than a day long dose. since.... well... if i decide im going to have a drink i dont want to have to worry about interactions.
