I saw some stuff recently on posts regarding antacids and what not. So, since I had bad indigestion from the night before I took a zantac 75 about 8am andd then at 9am took my adderall dosage 30mgXR. It was completely like the first time I took it. I had super focus and energy and got more work accomplished since I started it back in February. I generally eat clean and have cut down my consumption on coffee but it worked great all day for about 10 hours, (30mgXR) which is better than the usual 5 hours i get out of it then I would have to do a boost along with it at 3 in the afternoon. Just giving some feedback to those who were wondering.....

im still trying to figure out what foods cause what effects... sometimes 30mg's would barely do anything... other times 15mg's works really fine... i cant seem to find a stable diet..... i know this is a bit of a thread hijack but it seems that food and ph levels highly affect adderall!

Yes that is true....more foods that contain citric acid (oj) or grapefruits....but once I took the zantac when I woke up then took the adderall an hour later, I felt good all day....I ate whole wheat cereal for breakfast and a steak salad with vinegarette dressing and it still worked out well the whole day.

Basic chemistry at work, nothing more. Per the prescribing information with Adderall....

Consumption of anything that alters your gastric pH (antacids) will increase the amount of amphetamine absorbed. By altering pH I mean by making gastric pH levels more Basic.

Consumption of anything acidic (Soda is the worst) will reduce the amount of amphetamine absorbed.

Amphetamines have rather poor absorbtion anyways so adding anything acidic further reduces the amount absorbed into the body and thus excreted via urine.

Urinary acidity also plays into the equation too but screwing with that can have all sorts of bad effects like Kidney stones. Don't do it.

Vyvanse (by design) is completely immune to the whole gastric pH issue since everything happens in the small intestine.

I read a lot about this on these forums and other places (the whole pH issue and all) and I was wondering how much of a difference something like Zantac would make. I take Zantac 150 sometimes for acid reflux and one day I did take it about an hour or two before taking a dose of Adderall 10 mg and I can't remember if I saw much of a difference in the effect or not. I know the insert that my pharmacy distributes with the meds warns against taking Adderall with antacids because to much amphetamine may be absorbed. It sounds kind of similar to drinking beer while taking a benzodiazapine only on the opposite end of the spectrum and I would think that the antacid or Zantac would be unlikely to effect amphetamine that has already been absorbed into your bloodstream.

What about citric acid and acidy things? I hear conflicting reports on these things does the acidy substance only affect Adderall while it is in your stomach or intestines or does it also affect it after it is absorbed into your bloodstream? (This would seem kind of strange if it did I think, but some people have seemed to suggest as much.) Also when I got my last perscription filled I asked one of the pharmacists on duty about this very thing and she said that vitamin c and citric acid shouldn't affect the medication but it seems I remember reading that it would in the medication literature somewhere. Does anyone have the real factual answers to these questions?
