I apologize if i posted in the wrong area... This is my first time even viewing this site.

Before i start... I just want to say i am VERY sorry to have abused this drug... beyond the fact that i am very scared right now (and getting what i deserve) i know now that there are MANY of you out there who TRULY need this medication to help you live normally. I apologize for abusing your drug, i truly feel sorry for this. I am NOT a druggie, i have never even smoked anything a day in my life, i am not on prescription meds... i simply made a very VERY bad mistake and am desperately seeking help!!

Background Info: I do NOT have add or adhd, i have chronic depression and ocd, but have never been treated for them.

Yesterday... about 6:00 pm, i took two Adderall XR, the bottle is marked 15mg. I didnt feel anything, i was told i was supposed to feel "high", i felt NOTHING, so about an hour later, i took 3 more. An hour later... still nothing, four more.

Around 10:00pm last night, i began to feel very hyper. I am a VERY calm, quiet, sleepy person. This was extremely weird to me. I did not feel "high" but i felt hyper and i was talking alot and very FAST!

The hours begin to run together after that... sometime between 10-2 i got up to use the restroom and blacked out...for about four seconds, and then i was fine.

During the night, until about 9am, (im guessing) my heart started beating very rapidly, and very HARD. breathing became VERY difficult, i was really hot (and AC was on) , my thoughts were running together at a million miles a minute, everytime i get up to use restroom i experience four second blackout. My OCD was increased dramatically, i cannot focus on anything, but for some reason, i can focus intently on my rituals from OCD.

As the morning progressed, i began to feel better. Still very sick, but MUCH better. I've been up all night and all morning with anxiety. Thankfully, my heart has calmed down. Breathing is a TAD bit easier (still very hard and unnormal) , but i still feel sick to my stomach (very, VERY, very nauseous).

I have been reading overdose stories about seizures and migranes and comas and death when it finally wears off (WHENEVER THAT WILL BE!), as well as fainting and other things.

My symptoms are still very bad, but ARE getting better. I CANNOT (CANNOT) go to the doctors.

Is there ANYTHING, i can do right now? Any idea at ALL when it will wear off?? When i can FINALLY sleep? Not feel nauseous? Am i REALLY going to DIE, or was this just the worst mistake of my life, and something to NEVER, NEVER do again?

I am already EXTREMELY scared, understand the seriousness and LEARNED MY LESSON, so please dont be too harsh. I am really looking for help... We all make mistakes... Please dont be too harsh.

Umm, dunno how long this will be open because posting stuff like this is violating forum rules. First off, if you have extreme anxiety issues, you shouldn't take stimulants. They will usually send you into a panic attack - especially if you've taken a lot. You took 75 mg, which is a lot for a first timer IMO. Not to mention the fact that you took an XR form makes that worse. XR is suppose to last 8-12 hours - hence part of the reason you have been up all night.

If I were you, I would try and get some sleep. Not sleeping is part of your problem. You will go insane if you don't try and sleep. If you still aren't calmed down, I would go take a warm shower or something. You are probably feeling sick because you haven't eaten anything - try and EAT.

drink milk, if you can't eat, and go to sleep.
...8 to 12 hours is the duration.

I apologize... didnt know i was breaking rules... i saw some similar and thought it was okay...

thank you so so much.

i tried to sleep all night, but i cant because while i AM tired, my mind is going a million miles a minute and i cant get my thoughts to stop long enough to allow to me sleep...

i was very confused on whether or not to eat.
i guess i will try and eat something healthy,
i really appreciate your reponse.

Try taking some Diphenhydramine - Benadryl. Or some Doxylamine. I would wait a little while until the Adderall isn't working much before I took those though. I've taken sleeping meds several hours after I thought the IR Adderall had run it's course and I started tripping out. Your body is going from SPEEDY to SLOW to soon, so that usually isn't a good idea.

Take everything I say with a grain of salt though...

lol i do have benadryl, but i am so scared to take ANY form of medication at all. i think i'll just try to sleep. do you really think when i start to come down i'll go into a seziure, or faint or a coma?

No way, you will be alright. If any of that was going to happen, I'd say you would have already bit the dust. Since you are still alive and kicking, you will be ok. Just NEVER do that again! Anxiety is getting the best of you right now. Try and chill out my friend. All this worrying will just make things worse.

and trust me, i will NEVER, do that again. NEVER.

That seems extremely unlikely. There's less drug in your system now than there was at the peak. You might try drinking some OJ - citrus is supposed to counteract Adderall

Just out of curiosity, whose Adderall did you take? And WHY did you decide to take it, particularly in such large amounts?

thats a good idea, i did read citrus counterattacks... thank you for reminding me.

a friend of mine just told me i should try some of hers (she stopped taking hers and had some left over ) =/
for whatever reason, i did.
and i didnt know how strong it was... or that it had a delayed release... i took it and didnt feel anything hours later... so i just kept adding on.
figured it wasnt working...

stupid i know. but i've learned my lesson.

You will be fine. OCD symptoms are always magnified by a stimulant. After all you can focus, therefore you can focus more on your rituals.

I would advise you to stay seated if possible. Get a glass of milk and sit on your couch. You mentioned you are experiencing 'head-rush' type symtoms. When you need to use the bathroom, stand straight up. If you blackout or become dizzy you can sit back onto the couch (won't hit your head, etc). Once you feel steady enough after standing then go use the bathroom.

Please never do that again. I hope you have learned your lesson. Eventually the medicine will wear off and you will sleep for the rest of the day probably.

Good luck.

Thanks, i have been laying down ever since i took them. My bed is pretty close to the restroom so i'll be sure to make sure i'm steady before i start to make the trip again... I was pretty scared the first time i was going to collapse and hit my head. I wont be doing them again... This horrible 19 hours and counting is my lesson learned... Cant wait for the sleep to kick in...been up forever.

Also, if you are going to experiment with drugs, at least research the stuff a bit before doing it! Erowids and Google are some good places to get info on pharms and other substances.

I hope you learned your lesson. I have learned the hard way myself. Although it opened new doors for me, it did create a sense of fright that I will never forget.

On the other hand, it helped me to develop an undying respect for drugs. I hope you feel the same.

I usually research EVERYTHING, my computer wasnt connecting to the internet so i decided to take it upon myself... obviously the wrong decision (even though doing it at all was an even worse decision)

The only other thing i have done is triple c's (coricidin cough and cold), which i researched extensively...

I wouldnt ever do that again... but feel better. I dont take Adderall, I sadly take Concerta, but with OCD like you, it makes me OCD kind of worse... it has recently, anyways. Good luck to you and try not doing that again, because you dont really want to increase your heart rate that much on purpose...

thank you, i appreciate it. i wont be doing that again... its very very scary.

the adderall made it hard for me to focus on anything.... i guess because i took so much.

but sadly, i could focus very intently on my rituals... which is irritating... im not sure how bad your ocd is... but mine irritates me verrrry much, so to be SO focused on it... ugh. horrible.

hope your ocd gets better!

don't take ADHD medicines if you don't have ADHD... it does the exact opposite of what it does for people with ADHD. it makes you hyper, impulsive, and inattentive... it's like having ADHD yourself. my OCD isn't that bad... I just HATE certain capital letters, get obsessed with people and objects, have to check things 50 times... etc :p

Moderator note:
This thread is against ADDF guidelines. However, it is an interesting topic and goes to show what can happen when you abuse a drug.

So... I have moved this thread to addiction and substance abuse.
