I have seen this asked several times, but my doc seems to be reluctant to raise my adderall xr dose above 30mgs/day. I continue to struggle during the evening hours. How do you discuss these issues with your doc without them thinking you are abusing it?

Good question. I've also wondered this myself plenty of times. What I'm currently doing is keeping a log of how my day has gone - with or without meds. Doing this also helps reinforce your "true" issues that you have, opposed to just going in and telling your doctor how you feel and you need to increase your dose. I can't seem to ever remember how I've really felt one week or one month ago anyways.

This also shows that you are really trying to help better yourself IMO. So if you aren't already doing this. Start a journal and write down EVERYTHING. I think this will help you in the long run and it will give your doctor a better understanding of how you are truly feeling each and every day.

Good luck!!

I was diagnosed adhd a few months ago, and I started keeping a daily log too, noting the time of the morning that I took my xr, the approximate times the meds started to wear off, etc.<O:p</O:p

I found the perfect xr dose to last me through the work day, but I needed to something for the evening hours to help study for some upcoming exams. After discussing it with my doc, he let me try taking an ir in the afternoons which works great (as well as can be expected for studying anyway!) for opening the books after work.<O:p</O:p
