Brianne 03-23-04, 10:06 PM Thanks Paul, lovely pic btw!
Well we were thinking of September 13, we met on that day a year and a half ago..............and it was friday the 13th of all days lol! But, That would be during the week and we want it to be a saturday at least because we have family that has to travel far. Hes not from here (TN) and it will take his family 8 hours to get here so work days are probably not a good idea. I am not sure if the 26th is during the week or not but we decided the saturday thats before the day we met may not be a good day because its the 11th and its also one of my brides maids birthday. LOL maybe we could get married the 1st, but thats my birthday and I think my grandmother said she will be gone the first 2 week in september. I new planning for this would be hard but never thought it would be this hard jeeze! LOL oh well it will come together I know.
Mandz1129 03-23-04, 10:07 PM That's wonderful !! congradulations!! Are we all invited to the wedding?
Brianne 03-23-04, 10:10 PM Sure but I may need to make it a pot luck kinda thing not sure we will have enough food................we aren't even sure how we are going to feed all of our family..........weddings are too expencive! Not to mention my moms side of the family is Italian and can eat all day long LOL!:dizzy: :p ;)
bnsforu2 03-23-04, 10:21 PM Clarksville,TN <---only heard of clarksville in the movies! whats it like there?? Paul :) A wedding in clarksville. A great movie. Who would play you? would you play you or would another actress play you? :)
Brianne 03-23-04, 10:29 PM LOL..............well its ok here I guess. Its full of army mainly but my dad grew up here and both parents went to college here. Other than its the home of the 101st air born/assult theres not much to this place. Alot of people think all of Ft. Campbell is in KY but really most of it is in Tn. Its just called Ft. Campbell Ky because the post office on base is on the Ky side. So they consider that their address I guess.
Not sure who would play me not sure if I have even seen that movie lol! Might have and just don't remember .............darn ADD! lol
Congrats. How exciting!
Ginger
Brianne 03-23-04, 10:39 PM Thanks!

Nucking_Futs 03-24-04, 01:10 AM Bri you are about to embark on one of the greatest and scarriest adventures of a lifetime. I'm so happy for you, you deserve to be happy and have a fulfilling life. Why is there not a pic of the lucky fella in this thread huh huh huh? You know I'm incredibly nosy. lol
My first bit of advice to you is don't sweat the small stuff concerning your wedding. It's supposed to be special but if you spend so much time trying to make it absolutly perfect the pure beauty of the moment escape's you. And probably because I'm a hick Pot luck wedding's are my favorite they are much more relaxed and enjoyable.
Brianne 03-24-04, 01:59 AM Thanks all!...........Futs all I know is that all I really want is for it to go well meaning I hope everyone gets along and has fun. And it would be nice if I could at least find a dress like I want. Doesn't have to cost alot I just don't want bows and I want it white. My mom likes off white better but its my wedding not hers and she got what she wanted. I don't want long sleeves, either straps or I think I like some that have the laced cap sleeves. I will get a pic of him but Not sure how to put it in here. I can e-mail one though!:D ;)
Nucking_Futs 03-24-04, 02:11 AM email it and I will put it in here for you. My email is on my profile.
Hey, this is YOUR wedding.
I have lot's of tips on cost cutting if your interested.
Brianne 03-24-04, 02:45 AM Yes please Futs ................my mom is so concerned she won't have enough money for a nice wedding. My dad told me I had to have a hippy wedding or elope lol! She is making the table decorations herself to help cut the cost and my friends mom is a hair dressor and said she would fix my hair and brides maids hair for free.................so thats a start! Oh and I just updated my profile there is a pic of us together http://profiles.yahoo.com/brianne_7924
hmmmm me thinks at my wedding I wear red....even I can't keep a straight face wearing white*evil grin* :D
Congrats Bri!!! I am sure things will great! wishing you both the best!
Jim
jaimegerise 03-24-04, 12:13 PM Bri, here's my free advice :p
Make sure that whatever you do for your wedding that it's what YOU and KEN want! You'll never have this day again...make it YOURS!
You will be a beautiful bride! Ken is very lucky. I am so happy for ya!
Oh Congrats, Beautiful Brianne!!!!
joanrdtobe 03-24-04, 01:44 PM ((((((((((Congrats to Brianne and Her Boyfriend)))))))
Have a blast planning the wedding....:) :)
FlakeyGirl 03-24-04, 02:10 PM What exciting news! Two words: waterproof mascara:D
Brianne 03-27-04, 01:49 AM LOL thanks flakey girl I will keep that in mind.;) Thanks all I will keep you all posted......................He asked my father for permission yesterday. He got there and my dad wasnt there so he watched tv in my room then my dad got home and got in the shower before Ken could talk to him. He said he was so nervous he kept getting up and down going in the den to see if my dad had come out then going back to my room. (I wasn't there with him I stayed at the apt.) My mom got home from work and went to tell my dad someone was there to see him. My dad was like who? lol and he thought I was there too.
Anyway, he talked to my dad and asked for his blessing. My dad didn't answer right away. They got into talking about relationships and my parents relationship...................but when Ken was getting ready to leave my dad finally came out and said you have my blessing.........but I would hope that if I had said no you would have fought for it anyway just to show me you love my daughter. Then mom reminded dad to give Ken the speach. My dad forgot what speach she was talking about at first but then remembered .............YOu hurt my daughter ever and I will hunt you down and kill you!
LOL!!! Fathers are so protective. Well he finally asked my dad so all he needs to do is ask me now. He wanted my dads blessing first...............I will let you all know when its offical.:D ;) :p
Thanks everyone again!
Jellybean 03-27-04, 01:57 AM I missed this thread until now, Congrats, he looks like a very nice guy and Handsome too!
Brianne 03-27-04, 02:53 AM Thanks!
:D Bri...congradualtions...i know Parents have to be Happy!
Nucking_Futs 03-27-04, 08:40 AM OK Bri sorry I've been so busy with the baby and all.
1.) The meal it can be something totally simple...what we have alway's done was get a couple of ham's and have them thinly sliced. We buy bun's at the bread store (much cheaper that way) and a big jar of mayo and mustard (these put in a pretty dish). That's the main course for the wedding.
2.) Friend's and family have alway's been willing and wanting to help. So, we all make a huge salad. Make sure and ask only those who are not offended by helping.
3.) DJ's are a cheap alternative to bands
4.) Table decoration's can also double as bridal party gift's.
5.) Man I got so many more and they aren't coming. Luckily I have a little time.
Congrat's on your dad saying YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOVED the speech by the way.
FlakeyGirl 03-27-04, 09:47 PM That is so freakin' sweet of him. I don't think too many guys today would even think of asking the father's permission much less follow through.
Here are some tips off the top of my head.
1. Choose a simple cake and decorate it with a few smallish real flowers. That's one from the Martha (yack) files.
2. If you live near a university or even a big high school, check with the dean of the fine arts dept. and ask for recommendations for an outstanding student/amateur photographer. Remember to look over their portfolios. The students will be thrilled to get experience and money and you will get beautiful photos at a reduced price, and maybe even some early work of a future famous artist. Ditto on wedding video, if you want one, but go thru Broadcast Media Dpt. instead.
3. Whereever you are having the ceremony, be it in a church, hotel, whereever, check with the events coordinator about the date. If you pick a date that someone else has already taken, you could do yours right before or right after and split the cost of flowers. Or you could be like me and get married after Easter, when there are already lots of beautiful seasonal flowers around in church.
pembroke 03-28-04, 12:47 AM congratulations brianne. military life is fun - if you don't mind the moves. and the old military saw: if the army wanted you to have a family, they would've issued you one. or my dad always said: daughter, one, civilian... lol. dad was special forces (green beret), by the way. either 82nd or 101st - not sure. i am a bona fide army brat.
in any event, congrats and you will love being married. i do.
Brianne 03-28-04, 10:25 PM Thanks everyone! Any advise on saving I will take................does anyone mind if I print them?..........I want my mom to get a look at the ideas too. She is helping me plan most of it. So far we have decided to make the decorations, I am getting my hair done free, as far as having a band or dj.........my uncle is in a band www.deliciousbluesstew.com I hope I spelled that right. Anyway he is helping me out with that. Our wedding we are thinking of having it at the local winery so its an outside wedding. We hope so anyway. We know they have weddings there sometimes.
Pembroke, Thats cool. My b/f is in the 101st. Hes going to Hawaii in Jan. I am going too but my uncle and aunt are getting married in feb so I will go after that. Long story but my aunt and uncle have been together since I was 6 (24 now) and are just now getting married so I have to be there.
Thanks again all!
Brianne 03-28-04, 11:36 PM BTW cool fairy pembroke!
Nucking_Futs 03-29-04, 12:10 AM Sometime's it just takes ppl a little longer to realize how much they are in love and need each other. Heck, I was pregnant with our second child before Doug drug me to the alter kicking and screaming the whole way. lol
Brianne 03-29-04, 01:11 AM LOL Futs! Yeah I understand what your saying..............I think the war just got to us both but after him being home and getting to spend some quality time with him. I was confused and lost but now I know what I want and that may be a hard long road to take being a military wife but I am willing to put up with it all just to be with him.
Now if we could just stop arguing so much LOL! I think part of that is my ADD sometimes because he still has so much to learn about it. But also I think its normal in a way.................my parents said they spent the first 5 years of marrage that way and they started it before they were married too.
As for my aunt and uncle................my aunt has been married 2 times before to the wrong men and said she would never marry again...................little did she know she would meet a man like my uncle...............she had asked him how long hes been thinking of getting married ............he said the past 16 years LOL! She is already part of our family though. My freshman year in high school I asked her if I could call her my aunt and she said thats the nicest thing anyones ever asked me and almost cried. That meant alot to me to call her that.
Nucking_Futs 03-29-04, 01:20 AM The first 5 years are HARD. I honestly feel if you can survive the first 5 and still love each other NOTHING can break you apart.
Christiana 03-30-04, 01:04 AM CONGRATS BRI!!!! (sorry I've been away and didn't see!!)
your bf sounds like the greatest guy in the world!!!
Brianne 03-30-04, 10:38 PM Its ok Christiana. Thanks!
My mother says the same very thing you did Futs!;)
Congratulations Bri. Huggggz
I'm very excited for the two of you. And yeah your right weddings are very expensive. Since you are planning a September wedding, you could always go with a potluck pic-nic theme. Nothing more yummy then good ol'fried chicken & tator salad. And you could have guest bring dishes as well. BTW I know that Walmart has some good prices on large quantity of fried chicken at a very good price from their Deli. ;) Just a thought.
Nucking_Futs 03-31-04, 03:31 PM You have one smart momma!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mmmm fried chicken now I'm starving. lol But, a good idea.
Here's another from my neice. She is attending cooking school to be a gourmet chef :D . They have bridal parties contact the school all the time. The bridal couple pay's for the meal and they cook it, set up the tables and serve it for a extra small fee. Last time they cooked and served a party of 50 guest's and it cost the couple about $400 she said.
Nucking_Futs 03-31-04, 03:36 PM One wedding I attended we all got together the night before and made the meal. The teen's served it. It was honestly a lot of fun but I do know some ppl find that kind of thing offensive.
kat_in_mich 04-04-04, 09:46 AM congrats bri i know what you are going through.....my bf and i have been engaged for over 2 yrs and finally getting married the end of april.....we are getting a traveling minister to come to our place to perform the ceremony....and it is only 100.00
and we are gonna do the whole barbeque thing...and as far as cake....have you checked out any of the super walmart cakes yet?
you can get a 3 tier one that is suppose to feed 118 ppl starting at 110.00
anyhow just some suggestions for ya...some that we are gonna use. LOL
good luck and congrats again
Brianne 04-05-04, 01:44 AM cool thanks kat. and thanks again futs I will run that buy my mom she said she wants to get a carator but wants to cook somethings herself too. She just doesn't want to do it all herself which i understand. We would ask family to help but i don't know how that would work. His family is about 8hours awy and most of mine is about 4 hours away and none of them like to fly. I don't know that my older family members will even come because they just don't get out much or like to travel far. As for the youngetr ones they will be doing good just to be here the day of the wedding so they won't be able to come the day before t help set up anything. WHats really going to be hard is that I have made count of all friends and family thats wants to come (his family too) and we think we may end up with close to 300 guest!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! yikes
Congradulations to you kat!:
kat_in_mich 04-05-04, 08:02 AM thanks brianne.......um just in case you didnt know....superwallyworld caters too...LOL
anyhow just keep us posted on how the preperations are going...and i will let you know how things go for mine....lucky you that you have a few months to plan .....LOL i have only about 3 weeks...LOL
good luck and have fun
