Hello. I just started Adderall ir generic 20 mg today. Doc wants me to take 60 mgs a day. 20 first thing am then noon then later afternoon.

Ok so here's my question. I took it and didn't feel a thing. I was expecting some kind of boost in my mood or energy. I got that when I was on rittalin and dex. I am a high metabolizer and my doc knows I have to take meds sometimes off the charts to get them to work.

So, anyway my Doc is out of town for 2 weeks. I was just hoping to get some feedback on what to expect. When he prescribed the 60 mg a day he commented that might not be enough for you...

I see a lot of posts here about folks that rave how great they feel ect, ect.

SO I called the pharmacist. (what do they know anyway??) HAHA Asked her pretty much the same thing and she said that I won't get a boost in mood or energy. Just better focus and concentration. See, I told you what do they know.???

SO I am here with folks that have real first hand experience. Hoping to get some feedback...

Much Appreciated....

First of all... Pharmacists have MUCH more knowledge of pharmacology than physicians. Physicians complete 4 years of medical school, which include some pharmacology classes, but mostly hands on applications. Pharmacists, however, complete 4 years of schooling on just medications and pharmacodynamics.

To say that they know nothing would be (1) false, and (2)..well, kind of rude. Anyhow..if you've taken both Ritalin and Dexedrine, it's possible that you won't experience any kind of euphoric ("high"..) symptoms as do people who are new to stimulants. You didn't mention if you're concentration has improved (isn't that supposed to be the main point of taking ADHD meds..?), but if it hasn't I'm not sure what you can do.

I'm inclined to believe that 60mg of Adderall per day is the maximum therapeutic dose allowed to be prescribed.

Thank you very much for your feedback. I did not need to be chastised about my Pharmicist. I know that and you missed the point about it. Enitrely. Get a sense of humor Pal...
