I notice when I'm on it I have almost no anxiety what-so-ever.Is this because it's an amphetamine?I wish it lasted a bit longer than eight hours..kinda sucks to go back to the state I'm in when I'm not on it.
Are there any other ADD meds that last longer with the same effect?
I take 20mg of XR once a day.
Maybe you have less anxiety because you are not working so hard trying to compensate for your ADHD ????
Adderall is not an antianxiety medication. In fact, stimulants like Adderall can exacerbate anxiety disorders.

Adderall completely eliminated the anxiety that I get from school. I was diagnosed with ADHD after I completed undergraduate college. Durring college I had the worst anxiety and stress from school. I'd wake up in the morning every day and just feel totally anxious about all the homework and studying I had to do. Despite this, I could never get ahead or stay up with all my assignments which would increase my anxiety. Then I went back to grad school to get my masters, but before I did I sought help for my ADHD symptoms and was prescribed adderall. Now the anxiety I used to get from school is totally gone. It's not that adderall itself makes feel less anxious, adderall eliminates my behaviors that cause the anxiety.

I also feel less anxiety and less paranoia while on amphetamine. It's very nice to get that added bonus as well as having less ADD symptoms ruining my life. :)

Adderall XR gave me less social anxiety (more confidence in my ability to pick up social cues and not worry about saying stupid things) but more personal anxiety. The combination of heightened blood pressure and heightened awareness of things in my life I didn't like.... not so good.

I still say stupid things when I get a little manic and can't stop talking about something. Oh well,I am still working on my boundries! :o

I find I'm often at my lowest point after waking up in the morning. All I can think about are the negative things going on in my life. But soon after I take my dose of Adderall (25mg XR once a day), I feel a definite lifting of my spirits, and a significant lessening of pessimistic thoughts after about half an hour or so. This has the effect of giving me relief from my underlying depression and anxiety.

Adderall makes me less anxious, and so do other ADHD meds. I think it's because of the boost in focus. My anxiety issues probably stem from having so many things on my mind. I've noticed that stimulants which don't increase focus can make me more anxious.
Strattera is supposed to provide 24 hr coverage of ADHD, but the sides can really be an issue. I think it doesn't come close to the efficacy of amphetamine or ritalin based meds, but it's an option to try. A better option IMO would be to take an adderall IR booster if you want to get a few more hours of coverage each day.
P.S. this post was written on 5 mg focalin 2.75 hrs ago.

Adderall definitely takes away my social anxiety. I can not explain it. It's a great perk. I used to have the hardest time picking up the phone and calling someone I didn't know, it was like a block in my brain, now I just say "ok, I have to call blah blah blah" and I do it without giving it a second thought.
It just gives me a more positive outlook on life overall. I feel like the me I was always supposed to be.
