I have been hearing people say they have horrible skin because of Adderall and this worries me. I want to know just how common this effect is. If it is a rash on my arm or something I can deal, but if it is acne or wrinkles on my face....I can't. Anyway please explain if you had skin problems with it, how long after you were on the pill did you get it...ad anything else you'd like to share.

I am someone who never breaks out. I have really close to perfect skin so, it worries me.

I'd say that my skin is better, but I don't think that that is an effect of the Adderall directly.

Rather, I drink a lot more water now (as opposed to soda, coffee and energy drinks), so due to better hydration it is not as dry, and the lines don't seem as prominent. Also, due to caffeine and alcohol my face tended to get red a lot - that's also not happening due to the change in what I'm consuming. However, I would say that the Adderall makes my face a little bit redder all the time (very slightly and mostly on the cheekbones) than it was previously on days when I wasn't consuming anything that aggravated it.

So it's a net gain in skin quality, but again, it's an indirect effect.

Thanks for the reply...although I don't know why there is one vote for adderall making skin bad if it didn't make your skin bad. lol

If acne was a possible side effect I would take it without a big problem. But the more I am reading, the more is is looking like nearly EVERYONE has skin problems and that is a problem. It seems the people who don't have skin problems are the minority......but then again if they didn't have skin problems, they probably wouldn't post about it. Still I am debating on even taking it because of this factor alone sadly enough.

what chemical component does adderall affect in the brain? the reason why im asking is because i am taking 5htp and it's suppose to help with seritonin levels and neurotransmitter. if i take it too many days in a row i break out in a terrible itchy dry bumpy rash all over my face.

My scalp is always itchy. 15+ years on adderall. 15+ years of itch.

I don't know why either - I didn't vote.

I had the skin on my genitals peel, as well as my nose when I was on a specific generic brand, as well as little red bumps on my scalp which completely went away when it was stopped.

I was just looking at my skin today and noticing a texture that was not previously there- it seems wrinkly and rugged-looking. Having re-started my Adderall regime, I can only assume this is the cause. Also, my scalp has become ridiculously dry- so dry that I pick at it until I bleed and have sores all over my head. Disgusting, no?
