after being on Adderall IR (15mg x2 day) I cant tolerate caffeine, even if taken on days I dont take any IR...makes me irritable and anxious.....
other is I seem to have developed a strong placebo/slight addiction effect with Adderall.....sometimes I feel like skipping a dose because dont particularly needed but end up taking it anyways and within 3-4 min I experience the effects, which I know is way to quick for it to take effect....anyone else experience this? I almost like I know I took it and I anticipate the effect even before it does arrive

About the adderall affecting your caffeine experience, it is likely that a small amount of amphetamine is in your system even on off days. This could be interacting with the caffeine.
3-4 mins is not too quick to feel effects. You may be experiencing some of a placebo effect, though the L-amphetamine is pretty quick acting. And don't worry about taking it even if you don't feel that it is needed. It is common to not feel the full benefit that the meds may be having, even if they are really helping to keep your mind on track. Just don't take it in a manner that is inconsistent with your doctors advice.
P.S. this post was written 2.5 hrs after taking 5 mg focalin.

The coating of IR tablets is designed to dissolve in the stomach acids and get absorbed through the stomach lining into the blood stream. 3-4 minutes is too quick for this to happen, I'd say a minimum of 15 minutes before effects are possible for the IR, for XR (and most other capsules), it takes a minimum of 20 minutes for your stomach to absorb the gelatin shell protecting the XR beads.
I've felt the placebo effect as well, it's funny how our minds work. :)

As to caffeine - I lost all desire for it when I started the adderall, but do still drink it on the days I'm not taken meds. Weirdly, though, it seems to have almost no effect on me at all now - I don't feel the caffeine buzz I used to get. I don't know if it just seems weaker in relation to the amphetamines or what...
The only thing I can think of in your case is that maybe you need to cut down on the amount of caffeine on your off days - maybe you're experiencing the effects more now?
actually i dont take a lot at all on non-adderall days....and u r correct I dont get the buzz I expected of caffeine as used to once started on adderall, but i do get anxious and jittery....it just seems caffeine has become worthless after adderall...so much for a substitute on off-adderall days
