View Full Version : Moving to Ritalin because it is shorter acting - less insomnia?

I've been having trouble sleeping since I started Adderall.
I'm thinking of asking to switch to Ritalin. I think because it is shorter acting, it may help with getting to sleep at night.

Although the Adderall is only effective for about 5-6 hours, I think it is actually in my system for much longer. Sleep has been bad.

Is switching to Ritalin a reasonable approach?

I'm no expert, but IMO it is easier to sleep after ritalin then adderall.

I've only ever used Ritalin, but for me, it improved my sleeping, as compared to my unmedicated state.

If you don't like Adderal, then switch.

Ritalin has helped my sleeping habits as well. I find that I am doing more throughout the day (task initiation has been helped sooo much!) , then feeling very sleepy at 10pm and going right to sleep when I get in bed. Tonight, I'm an insomniac because I've been fighting some kind of flu/cold/bug and didn't take my third and fourth dose of ritalin so I could sleep all afternoon.
