I have been using Ritalin 30mg SR for about 7 years, and I LOVE IT. However, since switching insurance carriers I cannot afford to purchase my Rx at $100+ dollars a month. My doctor switched me to methylphenidate ER at 20mg 2x in the morning. I just took a 20mg methylphen. this afternoon to test drive it, and I think I hate it ....

I feel a little loopy--not focused whatsoever. Bit of a headache coming on (and I do not get those). My brain feels cloudy and foggy.

Please tell me that someone else has experienced this??

Does this get better? I have read from previous threads that the two drugs are supposedly identical, but I am not currently experiencing it. This feels so foreign, and confusing, that I am starting to think that $100 a month I spend may be WORTH IT.

Thanks.

I take Ritalin IR 20mg x4 and it is definitly better for me than methylph. I seem to get a longer acting dose and less side effects with brand name than with generic.
my ins co-pay is $30 for brand name $10 for generic
take care:)
