If I remember correctly, my doctor said I could take it before bed. Now, I take it first thing in the morning. Basically he wants me to take it the same time each day as that way I'll better keep track of it.

But I'm pretty sure I used to take it before bed before one day I just switched (arbitrarily) to the morning.

You having problems taking it before bed?

The thing is that wellbutrin makes me feel real mellow like I just took a valium.

I actually sleep better when I go to sleep under the influence of a stim med (may be it is the dopamine that makes me feel this way), on the other hand when either my Adderall or WB wears off I feel more frazzelled and I start to worry & think in bed (in my case as I lost my job - I start to think about the bills, when will I get new job, my daughter's future, et al.), which causes me to lay awake stressing while my wife is asleep.

Sorry to go off topic, I'd say if you have the tolerence and the med isn't causing you insomnia and is long lasting why not. You should keep in mind that WB XL lasts 16hrs., Adderall XR 12 hrs, Concerta 10 hours - so you may need to re-dose during the day on-occassion for an important event - when you need to be focused.

I've decided wellbutrin isn't for me. After taking it at night, I still felt stoned the next day. I'm going back to school next semester and I need to get a clear head. I can't deal w/ all these meds that make me a zombie. I just wish my Adderall worked like it used to. I'm going to compile info on memantine and give it to my new pdoc. There are studies currently being done on how it could help treatment resistant depression, mood disorders, ADHD...

I also just got bloodwork done this morning, maybe my thyroid is off.

Hi NotMADD,

Understood, the ADD meds effect everyone differently. On my end, I like the longevity of WB and that it masks the extreme wearoffs I used to have when Adderall wore off. However, I do notice when the Addy is way out of my system, that WB makes my heartbeat fast (almost like I drank 3 cups of Java quickly), but I have become used to it and the tradeoff is worth it. When I orginally started Addy - the Doctor put me on Celexa 30mgs for the wearoffs - and that Zombified me - I could just stare and not blink with a blank mind for long periods of time. That is when I reapproached my Doctor for the WB, with the hypothesis that it is stimulating but not as strong as Addy, so the med would be good for the PM (and I wanted to break my caffene habit, which was high at the time - so WB could substitue), also I wanted all day and into bedtime coverage, so the 50 mgs of Adderall and the 300mgs of Wellbutrin covered this. So far, so good and the only combo of meds I can think of that would provide such consistent coverage, other than Straterra - which for me was even more Zombifying than Celexa - for a whole year I was a Zombie on 90 mgs of Straterra, and always exteremly tired and lethargic, and my memory was going to boot . I went to the Doctor and told him that I can not do one more day on that stuff and thankfully he agreed. My Doctor wanted me to go the Staterra route before a WB/Adderall/Concerta were approached, it is ashame but for some reason this seems to be the route many doctors follow.

hey RecruitDir,

Straterra was the 1st med I tried...ugh, very zombie like. My new pdoc actually feels that stims are best for ADD. He wasn't willing to try the memantine though and didn't think it would help. So he gave Focalin XR 20mg and Zonegran for my depression/mood disorder NOS.
