How does this work? I heard from my friend who is on it that it makes him really tired while working out.
I am on Concerta right now but going on the third day, I haven't noticed anything except that I am a bit slower and I have lost some awareness while driving. Doesn't seem to help.
But my friend is raving how well his Dex works for his Focus and Motivation. He says he gets STUFF done!!!!
But said I would get really tired if I train. and no sex while on dex!!!
I also take Wellbutrin. I know the symptoms are from the Concerta though because I tested it. But is Wellbutrin a good match with Dex?
thanks

You may notice some side effects such as tiredness and dizziness for the first few day's. Some meds take about two weeks before you actually see a positive change. I would give it a little time and then access the situation. If you don't notice any positive change go speak with your health care professional. You may be having a drug interaction or just need a different dosage.
No sex? Never heard of such a thing. I think that one is a wives tale hon.
ONe other thing: FLUIDS, FLUIDS, FLUIDS keeping yourself properly hydrated on these meds will help.
Good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I've been on Dex a few months now. I started in December I think. At first my libido dropped off the map but it's ok now. I thought willie was going to wither and die. It was a dramatic change.
Exercise suffered too in the beginning At first I had an elevated heart rate that didn't match my work load. I've since tweaked my dose and time to better reflect my needs and the half lives of the different release agents. I really can't tell that I have meds in my system except I'm getting lots and lots of things done!
In the beginning I was exhausted at the end of the day when I first started with Dex but I wonder now if it wasn't just a result of actually being active and fully engaged for a whole day at a time. It doesn't seem to be an issue now much beyond what one would expect after putting in a busy day.
Like Futs says.. fluids.. at least eight to ten glasses a day.. I practised this before the meds and found my spring pollen allergies just about disapperared when I was properly hydrated. On Dex it's doubly important. It seems to be tough to stay on top of my water requirements on this drug.
I feel better because of the exercise but the Dex likely plays a role in that too according to my pharmacist.
Of course your doctor and pharmacist will have the straight goods on all the points of interest. You should not be shy about consulting them along with your friends here.
Keep us in touch. Ian.

I also experienced dizzyness my first couple of weeks on the Dex. However, I find that it's improved my athletic performance, in that I can go for longer amounts of time without getting bored. However, my heart rate goes up to 180 very quickly even though I haven't expended that much energy, and tends to stay there, and this is supposed to be the maximum heart rate you should work at. It's strange.
whao, that sucks!!! Yeah, when I'm at 180 I feel like I'm going to die!!! hahaaaa
I think my doc is going to switch me from Concerta to Dex next week. So I will be experiementing with the workouts!
I do a martial art called Brazilian Jiujitsu, it is more like wrestling than a traditional standup martial art. Just think of it as wrestling with submission holds!
Anyway, I do alot of cross training for this too, so it will be interesting seeing how I can schedule the sessions around the Dex.
