Since you have some form of ADD or whichever, do you think you have more stress in your life than other per say normal people? TY

I think I have more stress than normal people in things that they consider rather easy or ritual. I have more stress with my social life in terms of the barrier of connection, in which I can't have with people who I would consider that I could be good friends with if I didn't have that wall blocking it.

I think the big difference would be if I was given all the same things as they were to do, like college, a job, etc. at once- I wouldn't be able to handle it and they might get by with a breeze or a slight amount of stress over their heads.

I would not say overall we have more stress, but sometimes daily tasks can be more stressful, but that doesn't mean they don't have really stressful lives due to being able to handle more, or however the cards are laid out.

Absolutely--I feel stressed pretty much all the time, even when I know there's absolutely no reason for me to feel streseed. My mind is just always trying to think about everything at once and I still feel overwhealmed.

LOL, just realized this was in the women with ADD section--I just clicked on the thread from the main page

I'm like that too. I try to except the stress and do whatever I can to not feel stressed, but I'm not in school or work right now saying it's that easy to except the stress. So I can't judge that one lol.

For me, the closure that came from the realisation I was ADD helped eliminate a lot of stress in my head - and the meds help too.

I know that for myself, I get overwhelmed very easily and most of my stress comes from that. I used to get lots of looks and comments from friends and family when I would freak out over, what seemed to them, very small things but to me, asking me a question when I'm on the phone or trying to concentrate on something else is a BIG deal!

This doesn't work very well with having 2 kids at home with me all day. I never get anything accomplished due to the constant interruptions and I'm a mess at the end of the day when I see that nothing on my list got done...

Look...now I'm stressed out. Sheesh.

I definitely agree with the idea that ADDers are more stressed than others because we have so much more going on in our heads at any given time. I too get incredibly PO'd when someone interrupts a conversation I'm having or hangs around me when I'm trying to concentrate on a recipe. And I too feel like I'm always stressed, always on edge, even when I'm taking my meds. It's something I've gotten used to, but I know others, especially my husband, have a hard time dealing with it. I try to bring my stress level down and see things from their perspective, but this just isn't natural enough for me for it to really work...with my husband, we just have certain rules...like when I'm cooking he's not allowed to have a conversation with me in the kitchen.

Night and day for me with the meds. Stress level high because it's like I'm trying to juggle 20 balls at a time when I don't have my meds.

Not medicated but this is exactly how I feel. I just realise that some things I find stressful so I allow more time etc or for example i have to mentally prepare myself to do the dishes, LOL. I was christmas shopping today, I knew I would freak out in a store at some point; well; I did! And that was ok. I also had an ADD "flash of intuition" and found some great presents.

I think washing dishes with a 2 year old screaming and a 4 year old trying to "help" you and the phone ringing at the same time and your mind being on the list of bills you haven't paid is stressful for anyone. But me, with ADD it brings me within a hairs breadth of a fatal anyurism. I would have to say yes, all things equal, ADD person would havemore stress than non.
