Hi. I'm Louise from Teesside, just discovered the site today.

I have been waiting absolutely ages to get my adult ADHD sorted. Finally I was told I by my nurse I was to see a specialist in adult ADHD at Newcastle (St Nicholas Hospital) in around four weeks (which would have been just before or just after Christmas).

Yesterday I received a voicemail message from the hospital saying that the Newcastle/Tyne and Wear NHS Trust has stopped operating its Adult ADHD Clinics.

Anyone have any more information on this? I am shellshocked having waited so long and got this far.

Are their any alternatives anywhere near?

Apparently no new patients are being taken on due to cuts in Government funding!

Hi Louise
That is awful, you must feel so angry. I am in the UK, Lancashire, and paid to see a private Psychiatrist who specializes in Adult ADHD, she is based at the Priory clinic in Sale, she charges around 250 for assessment which takes around 2 hours and now I see her every 6 months just to see how I am doing and this costs around 115.
It really makes me angry the way people are treated in this country, they are so ignorant.
If you need any more info, let me know.
Take care
