Hey guys, do any of you work out on Wellbutrin? I'm starting some very intense workouts soon and I feel like my heart might explode if I eat the pills and then exercise. Is it safe?

I work out at least every other day. Haven't noticed any problems. At first, I felt a little hyper and that actually helped me do some intense workouts. But, since ramping my dosage and switching from SR to XL, I've not had a problem.

Actually, not noticing much at all on the stuff. :(

I feel ya. I took my 300mg XL (generic) this morning and I fell right asleep for 3 hours. I definitely feel a bit better though. I feel like the XLs come in waves. Anyone else?

I work out very hard on wellbutrin XL. (This week I've not been good at getting to the gym.) In fact, the benefit of the wellbutrin for me is in helping get me to the gym in the first place. I think you can talk to your doctor about your heart worries. I never had those on wellbutrin.

Oh, I do running intervals on the treadmill and I lift weights as well.

Start slow. Don't jump straight into intense workouts. Gradually check if you can handle it.

I don't do much besides calisthenics and running a bit, but I don't feel like I am pushing it in the slightest and I am taking 450mg XL.

And I agree with ToneTone about the motivation part. I've been feeling a lot more positive since I started taking Wellbutrin. I was a really negative person before.

If you are really worried, go get an EKG done and it will show if you have any sorts of heart abnormalities/irregularities.

How long were you on the 300 dosage before you jumped to 450?

I was about 2 weeks on 150 before going to 300 and another I think 3 weeks on that before going to 450.

What was it that made you decide to go up to 450? Did your doctor recommend it or you weren't getting that much from 300?

Doc said to try it if 300 didn't help. I felt a difference in my depression with 150, but doc said to go to 300 anyway. After a while on 300 I still didn't notice a difference in my ADD, so I went to 450. My depression is *mostly* gone.

For example, I received my GRE scores (test for graduate school) and found out they were pretty bad... I felt like total crap for a few hours, but then went "Okay. What do I do from here?" instead of just lying in bed for the next few days like I would have before.

But that's not what I meant by "mostly". That was great, but sometimes I'll still get these really negative thoughts of failure and hopelessness for no reason. Usually in the morning or at night, which would make sense since the meds have worn off and I haven't taken a new dose yet, except that I thought this was supposed to work 24/7 because it stays in your body longer. I don't know.

I'm not seeing any negative side effects from taking 450. To be honest I was sort of afraid of getting a seizure, but I figured I'm at the point where I'll try anything. WB hasn't helped with ADD at all, though. I might go down to 300 because of that and see if it can still take care of my depression just the same. If it can, then I have no reason to stay at 450.
