The other day I admited my son to a behavioral hospital. He is only 7 almost 8 . I felt bad that it had to come down to that . I felt like I was the worst mother in the world.
Thursday he was admited .. Friday I talked to him on the phone and he sounded alot differnt not full of anger. Last night he was put on Risperdal ontop of his Strattera . What a change he has made Im so proud of him .. He sounds like a differnt child .. what surprised me is not just the way he sounded and the way he talked but what he said to the staff . They asked him on a scale 1 to 5 ... 5 being ready to come home where he is .. in the morning he said 5 but then tonight he said 1 .. for the reason he has not reached all his goals. Mind you this child never once cared about goals and setting them . He put no effort into anything his grades were d's and f's . Which when he wanted to do his work he knew how and understood everything.

I just hope when he does come home this will last. I believe there will be a meeting Monday on him and I am going to go . I want to make sure that I can encourge this wonderful behavior so he doesn't go back to his old self . I know we still have alot of work ahead of us but its wonderful knowing we have a foot in the door . I also feel alot better sending him there IT WAS THE RIGHT THING TO DO .

well i talked to his counslour today and he said that maybe after his eeg on tuesday he could come home or wensday wooo hoo .. he even said he can see a big differnce in stephen and that stephen doesnt look druged at all .

Monday they are having the meeting but they decied that they will call me instead of making me drive alittle over a hour away since I have a baby.

I want to jump for joy and run around the house lol

I'm on risperdal for my bipolar and it works for me. I wouldn't be surprised if I'm just a tiny bit Add (wink) so there is that double benefit. I'm so glad your son is doing better. What a relief for you. Keep us posted hon.

ok talked to his couslour and physatirst ( however you spell it and dont correct me i hate that lol ) they said they are going to let him come home Wensday wooo hooooo .... they also said that they think his main problem was deperssion i asked them what from and they said they arent sure . They said his adhd and odd are 2nd to it .

I have a funny feeling he is depressed for a few reasons .. 1st his ptsd from watching his bio father beat me ... 2nd from his only known grandfather died 2 weeks after he meet him ( he was 5yr then ) he talks alot about him even though he really didnt know him. 3rd because I almost died when I was pregnant and the begaining of the pregnancy i was rushed to the hospital thinking i was misscariging. 4th wayne is finally here

ok they are putting him on remeron ... ive read alittle about it ... does anyone know anything about it ?

I'm on Remeron. It's an anti-depressant somewhat similar to Strattera in the way it works. Besides it's anti-depressive qualities, It's known to increase appetite and help with sleep - it will make him sleepy, so he'll be taking it before bed. No serious side effects to watch for - it's a very safe drug. The most common complaint is that it makes people too sleepy and they feel "dopey" the next morning - not so with me.
It's also very good for anxiety.
It'll work quickly - within a week or two - but I noticed it's anti-anxiety effects on the first day.

well my mom showed up with my siblings and stephen came home yesterday even with all this excitement i can see a big differnce in him . its amazing .. instead of getting on him now im getting on his big brother lol
