There's a new theory that yawning is a cooling mechanism for the brain, as well as a method of maintaining wakefulness. I've never heard of yawning being a symptom of ritalin usage before though.

Are you on anything else besides ritalin? SSRI's make me yawn.

It's possible that the -quality- of your sleep is being affected by the Ritalin. When I was taking Adderall, my sleep was not as deep as before and I could feel it in the mornings.

But then again, you might not feel tired for long because the next dose of Ritalin would mask the sleepiness. You might want to call up the doc.

I often yawn when regular Ritalin is wearing off. I've never tried a slow release version.
