Hey-- This could be why ADD is soo underdiagnosed in France. Where everyone smokes everywhere. Hey maybe we should start smoking in the house like so many people here do! You know FOR THE KIDS. This is of course a joke as nictine would have to be a patch. LR. But:: it interferes w/ the meds I'm sure.

When diagnosed at 20yo I quit smoking the same day. And stopped drinking caffeine. Doc said I had the best adult response to stimulant medication she had ever seen.

From what I've read, it would be less likely to help ADHD. From what I understand, this is dealing more with the long-term memory issues faced by Alzheimer's patients than the working memory or prospective memory issues faced by people with ADHD. Alzeimer's appears to involve some sort of problem with the acetylcholine pathways in the hippocampus, and nicotine works by stimulating acetylcholine receptors (which creates a downstream rush of dopamine).
However, I've seen some papers that appeared to indicated the possibility (read: I have no clue whether it's a valid conclusion) that nicotine may lower the number of dopamine transporters, which might help ADHD people, but only if it occurred in certain areas and not in others.
