Hey guys,

I was wondering if anyone had any sort of cure that does not involve painkillers do deal with this. I usually suffer the normal mood swings but the pain is really bad and I feel like I haven't slept in days- when I have.

I really need to be up for it- caus I have exams that I badly am behind revison wise and I can't deal with that and this as well.

Any suggestions hugely appreciated.
Cheers

Did the pain just start like this month?

Do you always have bad cramps?

When you say "doesn't involve painkillers" I assume you mean prescription painkillers?

My gynecologist had me try 800 mg of Ibuprofen, three times a day. My pain is so bad that I ended up taking Vicodin anyway, but the Ibuprofen in the amount stated does help to a certain extent.

There are herbal teas on the market that can help PMS, but you have to be careful. Often they have Dong Quai (I believe that's the name) and it is contraindicated if you already have problesm with heavy bleeding. Do research on the ingredients if you try something like this.

Beyond that, the only thing I have found that helps is visualization. I lay flat on my back and imagine my uterus being bathed in cool ocean water and relaxing completely...it sounds weird but it does help at least for short periods of time.

Good luck...I think men, as well as women who don't have this problem, don't really understand how just devastatingly bad the pain can be.

Are birth control pills still suggested for painful periods?
