mctavish23 02-01-09, 04:55 PM I grew up a Baltimore Colts fan. As a kid I was a pretty big card collector.
About 17-18 yrs ago, I decided to get back into collecting.
Some of my best and most meaningful (to me), are my Colts memorabilia.
I would save lots of $$ if I went out and bought the individual card, etc.
However, I'd rather bust open packs or boxes of cards, cause it's more fun.
For Christmas, I pulled a very nice Joe Flaco autograph, as well as another Adrian
Peterson rookie card. Living in Mn, I've become a Vikings fan.Growing up in Ga.though, I
more of a Facons fan at heart.
The pic was very cool. I do like the Ravens, especially, since the Colts left.
Today should hopefully be a good game. I wouldn't mind which team one, although I
supposed I like the Steelers.

- and you're still a vikings fan after this season...?
ADHDTigger 02-01-09, 06:36 PM I thought that there was a requirement to change your blood color to purple when you are in Minnesota.
My sister and her husband have a place in Wisconsin and are serious football fans. I got them a plush Packers lap blanket for Christmas. The cashier gave me the oddest look when I bought it. I felt compelled to explain that my sister is a cheesehead and is likely to be allergic to purple.
Nice weather here, for a change. Hope it keeps up!
mctavish23 02-01-09, 11:11 PM We've been here 25 years now and still love it.
I'm more a Falcons fan than Vikes.
More than anything, I'm a die hard Georgia Bulldog fan.
The President of our Board of Directors at work is from Atlanta and grew up watching
Fran Tarkenton, the same as I did. We even were at the same Gator Bowl in 1963.
Why we went to see Georgia Tech I'll never know.
I love sports though and I'm already fired up for March Madness & Spring training.
Its been hard to be a Braves fan, but it's fun to watch the Twins.
Thanks for the feedback ya'll.

Hey mctavish! Didn't you know that ESPN was created specifically for transplants like us? I'm not from here either- transplanted from California around 12 years ago. I understand you completely.
xraylady33 02-03-09, 04:50 PM ALL I CAN SAY IS BRING ON OPENING DAY!
It is time to see what my friend will carve into his head this season....hmmmmm...
Maybe an Oriole? Could it be? yes, My Goodness the day after SuperBowl, he started sending me info on tickets....
Like I have nothing else to do.....
HA
mctavish23 02-04-09, 01:28 AM When I first found my cards ( in the proverbial shoe box), I traded a number of them in.
The first 2 cards I traded for were Rookie Cards of Ryne Sanberg & Cal Ripken.
I've neglected baseball for several years now, but it's hard to keep up with
football, hockey (which I'd never seen before we moved here),and basketball.
Plus, you wouldn't believe some of the prices now for just one pack.
It's still fun though, so I'll keep up with it as best I can.

pADDyjay 02-04-09, 06:51 PM :)Red Sox Nation...here we come:)
mctavish23 02-06-09, 09:41 PM One of my fondest memories was seeing Ted Williams hit a home run at a Washington
Senators game.
I was about 4 yrs old and my dad told me to "watch this guy at bat,he's really going to
hit it."
He then hit the first pitch out of the park.
I thought my dad had "magic powers" at the time.
He also took me to see the Amazing 1965 Mets get killed by Sandy Koufax and I also
saw an exhibition game with the 64 Colts against the Steelers.
That was in Atlanta for some reason.
I also met Sterling Moss & Phill Hill at the 12 Hours of Sebring;just outside the Ferrari pits.
We also went to the Master's twice, where I saw Arnold Palmer win both times.
My dad past away in 1995, but we had some great times together.
My love of sports ( and cars) came from him.
