i've taken a few different versions of methylphenidate (ritalin tablets, concerta and biphentin... now back to ritalin tablets,) and during all this, over the last month, i've noticed my urine has become really dilute. very pale yellow to clear.
i have been drinking more as the methylphenidate makes my mouth dry but i don't have an "unquenchable" thirst or anything. i do also feel like i tend to have to urinate more often than i used to. has anybody else experienced something like this with stimulants?
i'm trying not to worry as coincidently, i'm having gallbladder surgery this week and have had pre-op blood work done and given a urine sample. if my kidneys weren't working, my surgeon would have called me to post-pone the surgery, i suspect. but i do have OCD, so i tend to worry needlessly.
so is this something that can happen with stimulant use?

This is something that happens when you drink more water. It's perfectly healthy. If only more people drank enough water to keep their urine pale or clear.

what about feeling like you need to urinate all the time or minutes after you've just gone? i don't know. if there was something wrong the tests should have picked it up, but i feel like i'm peeing waay too much.

Increased urge to pee, and the feeling of an incomplete evacuation after urinating is symptomatic of a prostate problem.
How is your stream? Hard to start? Dribbles?

Woops. My bad. :o
Talk about putting my foot in my mouth. :D
Ok, you might have a UTI or something. I'd see your doc regardless.

or it could just be that your body is getting used to the increased water intake.
give it just a little time.
like he said your urine should always be clear or very light yellow unless you are taking vitamin suppliments (specifically B vitamins which will give you a nice lemony yellow)

yeah, rationally i know i must be fine as i gave 2 urine samples and had kidney function tests done before my surgery while i was noticing the change in my urine colour - so if there were something wrong it should have been picked up and i doubt they would have done the surgery... but i am a worrier. i just keep reading about things like liver disease etc. causing clear urine.
hmm... the change in urine colour does sort of coincide with when i stopped taking my B complex and multivitamins regularly... i was trying to get concerta to work for me and found that taking vitamins affected the way it worked. maybe my urine has always been clear-ish but only now seems super clear as i'm no longer taking the vitamins. and as for feeling the need to pee more often... well... like i said, i'm a worrier... so i've been thinking about peeing and why my urine is clear... which just like the sounds of running water, kinda makes you have to go more than you would usually.
hey - you may have just identified the change. i'm back to taking ritalin tablets so i'll try to go back on my vitamins and see if my urine goes back to normal!
