i did o.k. on the driving test.

however, the first winter driving is a completely *other* story! let's just say that when my dad sold that car, he kept the front and back liscense plates as momentoes for my sister and i (our first car kinda thing). at least that's what he said, he was probably going for a laugh... anyway, he gave my sister the pristine-looking back liscense plate. i got the crumpled plate from the front of the car... ah well, at least there were no injuries (unless you count the car).

If you're talking driver's education I did well on that surprisingly, even though I spaced out for the classroom stuff I passed the tests with high grades as most of the questions were somewhat common sense type stuff and the actual driving part of the course went over extremely well after I first figured out how to operate the car without giving everyone whiplash. Learning to drive a standard later in life was a little bit more of a challenge for me though ;) My advice if you haven't already taken it is to not stress over it, just think about all of the horrible drivers and ignorant people out there on the road, if they can get a license then there's no reason you shouldn't be able to ;) Atleast that was my logic at the time :)

I did fairly well in Drivers-ED, but managed to fail the written test twice haha. Passed the practical test with no problems, however. Unlike my Dad and a friend of the family who both had 20+ years driving experience and had to re-do their licences, hehehe.

I was wondering about the same thing, I failed the written test twice(because I thought I knew everything and didnt study before hand). But like someone above posted if all the bad drivers can get a license then so can I.

"I thought I knew everything and didnt study before hand"

heh, the class very easy, but I need to take my test to get my license, um anybody got any pointers? lol

um, I don't enjoy driving, in fact I hate it, simply because you have to like pay attention to other cars and such, and it simply isn't fun, though where I live I need to be able to drive

So um any advice? I have to take the test in like the next two months before my permit expires, I'll have to time my ritalin just right I guess

the written test was a breeze though, multiple choice is so easy for me!!

I can't really give any helpful points on the written test (look above for the reason why hehe), but I can possibly be able to help with the practical test.

I took my driver's licence in North Carolina, and for the practical test I had to drive around the suburbs around the local DMV. I ended up using at least half the time being charming and polite to the examiner (opening her door, etc.. ). Because of this, I kind of messed up the 3 point turn (touched the grass, whoops) but she let it slide. People had been telling me that they usually fail you the first time. Since I concentrated on being polite as well, something I have to do everytime at work.. meh, customers :P, so it helped me feel relaxed and at ease too. Guess politeness does pay off :-)

i failed behind the wheel twice... so i had to wait until i was 18 to go to the DMV, and even then i failed the road test twice because i wasnt on my meds. but then when i went for the road test the third time, i took my meds and passed...

I failed my CBT with comments like

"You're unfit for the road"
"extremely dangerous"
and my all-time favourite
"are you mentally subnormal?"

I failed that badly with 2 wheels, I'd probably kill someone if I ever tried 4.

It may be more than "just ADHD", too.

I have heard estimates that up to 80% of ADHDers have an LD, too.

--> Some LDs can be "SPATIAL" or 'visual-spatial" or 'visual-closure", which would LIKELY affect things like 'parking' ability, and judging distances, and judging speeds, in a negative way.

I didn't have to take a drivers test or do a certain number of hours , I'm not exactly sure why this was, but I only had to take a class for a month, and practice for 2 hours one time with my driver instructer, then take a written test and i was awarded my license

I failed parallel parking, but that wasn't enough to make me fail the test, fortunately.

I have 2 LDs and I've heard that from numerous reliable sources. In addition to ADHD it makes it, for me at least, extremely difficult to learn the information for the driving test (due to the LDs) and hard to drive (due to ADHD. I either go to fast or too slow to get anywhere for fear of going too fast). Good luck to everyone who's trying. I don't think I'm getting my license anytime soon. lol
