How do you guys form study groups?? I've tried over and over to be a part of one, but I always end up picking the wrong people (they are either too smart and always way ahead, or lack motivation and never want to study).

help!!!

A lot of my friends do homework and study together but I just feel like I'm too slow and too stupid to join them. I know I'm not stupid, but I'm afraid that they think I am! WHenever I do homework with them, even if I start way before them, I end up falling behind. THey will start a problem together and we will all think up stuff about it, soemtimes I come up with a part of the solution, or a good idea, and then they will run with it and finish the problem without me!

So basically I feel like I can't study with anyone becuase nobody goes at my pace. Plus I feel like a drain on them becuase I'm doing badly and they are doing well.

One friend who I tried to study with would always SAY she wanted to study, but then be too tired or want to do somthing else instead, so I end up studying by myself anyway. And when we DO study together, she loves to talk and do other things.... when she talks to me I can't focus on anthing except for what she says, and it throws me completely off - but SHE can keep right on working... so while she's talking away and finishing the problem, I'm sitting there listening to her, and falling behind.

anyway so how do you guys find people to study with who are motivated and good at staying on topic?! I know who they ARE, but how can I join them? I feel so out of their loop, and they are even my freinds!!

Hey,
Here is a webpage from my university that has some good tips for it.
As for a study group, you can try asking your prof if he/she will send out an e-mail about it to everyone, or ask him/her to make an announcement before class.
As well, if you have disability accommodation arrangements, you might be able to get a tutor for free. In which case your tutor can be like the person asking you questions to learn more about it... and you would have to figure out the answers. You would be talking so it would help cement the information in your memory and organize the information.
At our school, we have a study group registry, but it hasn't really caught on well.

Good luck!
