Hello everyone, this is my 1st post on the forum and I hope to post many more in the near future.

I hope to get some feed back and thoughts posted in response to this:D

I am a 19 year old male on my 2yd year of college.

About 2-3 months ago I was diagnosed with ADHD and was prescribed Concerta which I hated. It have me severe depression symptoms which near the end caused me to seriously consider suicide, I started off with 10mg which did nothing to me at all except cause headaches, my doctor told me to switch to 20mg a day which also did nothing and then to 30mg which started the depression and it got worse everyday.

After I ran out of medication and I told her about the side effects I was switched to Adderall 10mg tablets, on the 2nd day I lost a large amount of my hair, but that may have been because of other reasons ( killer shampoo that burned my scalp, I rubbed some on my arm pit to test this and I lost some hair there ) since then I have experienced little hair loss but hair loss nonetheless. I was wondering could switching from Concerta to Adderall actually have caused hair loss? I have been told that hair loss is indeed listed as a rare side effect of Concerta (somewhere on their website) but not for Adderall thought many other people seem to experience this effect.

I am now taking 10mg of Adderall XR in the am and I have 10mg tables to take every 3-4 hours if the effect isn't "strong" enough (which it never is).

When I take Adderall I get a euphoric feeling and I am extremely focused but I also am getting some other side effects. If I am not in a very social environment or if I am in a quiet environment I get extremely paranoid(about people and my hair "loss?") and I on rare occasions get bad anxiety(which I already have).

When I am coming off of Adderall I feel sluggish, and slow, I find it hard to form sentences very well, these effects last only for 30-50 minutes though. If I don't take Adderall for a day I feel sick, I get very shaky and... empty? After this 1st day these feelings stop and I begin to feel normal again.

Back to the hair loss. I recently was off Adderall for 6 days because I was waiting for my insurance to renew itself and when I would look at my hair line in the mirror I would go "pff what was I thinking? my hair is fine". After I refilled my prescription I went home and took 10mg and as soon and I went to the bathroom and looked in the mirror I started freaking out. I would think to myself I was wrong before! It's so obvious how much hair I'm missing! I don't know what I was thinking yesterday! But as soon as the Adderall wears off I go back to my "normal" "It's fine, what was I thinking before?" state of mind.

I was just hoping for some feed back or...well...any type of response :P

Sorry for making such a long post :D

Bye for now~

"why are you so paranooid? so paranoid" lol

anyways, ur paranoia and ur story is making ME feel paranoid.

i think its the meds making u feel paranoid about ur hair to be honest. and all you need to get rid of the paranoia is us reassuring u that its probably the meds. so i will tell you that it is the meds, which is also quite obvious from ur post.

i think if you were really experiencing chronic hair loss, ur bathroom floor, tub or bed sheets would be littered wit hair...i honestly think ur concerned too much about ur hair, mayb the best solution would be to stop looking in the mirror.

but people do also go bald naturally too......

hope u find out wats really goin on, and may ur hair be with u.

Hi, I am on adderall xr also. When I started it was 10mg then in two weeks went on 20mg. Or you can take to 10mg. I am up early so I take it at 6am then again at noon.

I am also on Citraplam(generic celexa) for anxiety attacks. I think the reason you feel your hair is falling out more after you have taken the meds is because it makes you focus so much more.

If you can just learn to relax with the meds I think you will do fine. Let them do what they are suppose to.

I have had an incedent with a hair product about 4 years ago. I put it in my hair and it gave me a TINGLING sensation. Once I washed it out....my hair kept getting thinner. I went to a dermatologist....and it took about a month or more for it to get back to normal. I basically burned my hair follicales. So it lost its strengths and everytime I would comb it ..some would fall out.

Give it time it will get better...and so will the meds...

How is school. I am 39 going back to school. I am procrastinator.

Phew! You have no idea how much your post helped me out!!!!
School is going amazingly well for me because of Adderall, I got kicked out for poor grades before and then I got prescribed Adderall. This time I am doing great thou, i am missing 2 points in one class (which puts me at 105%(extra credit :D)) other wise i have 100% in ever other class woot!

How is school going for you? Hopefully you are doing great and are enjoying your self and your courses. What are you majoring in?

Which reminds me, I forgot to mention my major, :P
rite now i am just taking general courses but I am planning on getting an art degree eventually. I am a huge nerd so I am watching anime 24/7 and I really enjoy watching in and I really want to either create my own show or create a manga. It may take a long time to achieve this goal but someday I hope it happens :D
