I started taking Adderall about 2 months ago, on the second day i started i noticed hair loss and stopped for a short while, my doctor assured me that it was not the Adderall and that i must just be losing my hair due to MPB or something else.

So i kept taking the Adderall daily (started with 20mg IR daily 10 in the am and 10 in the pm, now I am taking 50mg, 20mg XR in the morning and 10mg IR every 4 hours)

My hair still began to thin and my doctor still assured me that it was not the Adderall. About 4 days ago i got my wisdom teeth taken out and because of that i was not allowed to take Adderall 2 days prior to the "operation" or until 2 days after, so i went a total of 5 days with out Adderall. The day after "surgery" i was feeling completely fine and my hair loss seemed to have suddenly stopped. Normally if i combed through my hair i would pull out maybe 3 hairs every time, there seemed to be no end to it. But on those days i could comb through and every 10-20 brushes i would pull out 1 maybe 2 hairs.

So today i decided to test to see if it was the Adderall (which i am sure it is)
I had a huge test today (night class 6 pm) and needed to study so I took 30mg XR when i woke up at 10 (kind of late), took a 10mg IR at 12, and I kept taking 10mg every 3 hours until I went to class (took a total of 60mg). (my doctor told me if i ever needed to study for a test i could take an extra 10mg)

I took my test, came home and was feeling fine, then when i started combing through my hair and i noticed every time i combed 2-6 hairs would seem to just glide out with my fingers, after 9 or 10 combs (each one with 2-6 hairs) i started to freak and forced myself to stop

This is not the only reason i want/need to stop Adderall, even though it works AMAZINGLY, the side effects I get when im coming off are horrible
When im on it my heart is racing i can feel it beating through out my whole body, my sex drive is 100% dead and i also get an uncontrollable twitches (if i stop writing i automatically start spinning pencils and tapping my feet.) When i come down from the Adderall i get severe depression, anxiety and paranoia. The paranoia is the worst, there have actually been several occasions where i won't think something because i seriously believe people can read my thoughts, no joke, its horrible...

Idk if this is considered a side effect but the Adderall makes me super super happy, super super optimistic and gives me a very euphoric feeling(until the "crash")

I was wondering, can you guys recommend something else that works as well as Adderall but doesn't have the horrible side effects? I get absolutely no work done with out it, but i can't stand the side effects, I have tried Concerta in the past (started with 20mg daily, then i was bumped to 40mg daily then 60mg daily) but all that did was make me nauseous, severe head aches and made me dizzy for 4 hours at a time.

Update, it has been over 12 hours since my last 10mg tablet and 20 hours since my 30mg XR, i still feel wide awake, and i think i may be starting to hallucinate?, everything i look at that isn't black and white seems to have very faint colours swirling around inside/on top/over it, also i thought i just saw a red fly flying around that was leaving a faint trail... this is messed up...also everything is vibrating slightly...also my heart is still beating very quickly but i am extremely calm and slow right now, I've never had either of these side effects before.=

It seems like to me you are speeding... and the amount and severity of your side effects would probably show to anyone that you are taking too much. This is pretty apparent in your descriptive details of your hair falling out ;).

The super euphoria and happy feeling means you are probably HIGH! I get a little more enthusiastic but not anything noticeable.

WHy did you switch from 20 to 50 a day? Usually you should titrate up to this amount, not take it all at once. I realize you are spacing it out in the day, but it sounds like to me you could cut back on the IRs a little... Or maybe you should try to stick to 2 20 mg XRs a day?

Maybe you could try Strattera? Has your doctor ruled out any depression/anxiety that you may have? Wellbutrin treats ADHD and anxiety/depression issues at the same time.

The calmness is normal (I actually get a little drowsy almost), but you definitely should not be hallucinating!!
