I started Adderall about 45 days ago. I went to see my Doctor to get a new prescription. I am on 15mg Morning, 15 mg Afternoon, and 10 mg late afternoon as needed. Anyway, he took my blood pressure, and it was high. I believe it was 145/95, and I hadn't taken my adderall since the day before. He suggested I see my regular doctor to get clearance for additional adderall.

My regular doctor took my blood pressure, and said it was very high, and said it was most likely from the adderal even though I hadn't taken it for over 2 days. I told him it was important for me to continue with the adderall because it really helps. He said he understood, and prescribed 10 mg of Lisinopril. Since my heart rate is low, he said this should help without dropping my hr any.

It has been 3 days, and not much change in blood pressure. 150/85.

1) Is this something that will take time to work, or should I start researching other blood pressure meds?
2) Has anyone else had this problem?
3) Can I continue to work out, or should I wait until my pressure drops?
4) How long would Adderall effect my BP after I took it?

Thanks in advance.

P.S. I am a 37 year old male, go to the gym regularly, am in good health.

I have no ideas about blood pressure meds, but I know that I notice my heart pounding a lot after the meds have kind of worn off and I'm coming down from them. I'm curious to see other responses to this... I don't personally have heart problems, but it worries me in the long run.

I have been on Adderall for a long time (5 years off and on). I did not have any blood pressure issues until a year ago. My blood pressure kept creeping up at each doctor visit...first 136/81...then 140/86 then 145/90. Finally my doctor put me on Norvasc. My blood pressure went down to 124/80. Now that quit smoking, it's down to 118/70!! So I think that in my case, it may have been smoking and family history that caused my BP to rise. I hope it all works out for you, I would not give up on Adderall yet though!
