I have been taking 30mg Adderall XR with a 10mg IR afternoon booster for awhile now..upon my last appointment when asked by my psyche how i was doing i related that i havent had as much success with my dosing as my symptoms seemed to be unaffected. I did state that i was battling bronchitis and thought that my not feeling well couldve been the culprit. He said that i was already taking the max dose of XR available and not wanting to up the dose from the highest single pill 30mg dose suddenly switched me from adderall to metadate cd. Not familiar with that med at all i became concerned and he stated it was a stimulant just another type...more on the ritalin variety on a continued release..i left with a prescription of 30mg Metadate cd and confused as hell. Did a bit of research on it and thought...hmm well guess ill give it a shot, how bad could it be?

i was hesitant to switch and thus neglected filling the prescription for almost a week but couldnt take the add-ness anymore and finally filled it. Took it on a day off from work so that i could gage what effect it had on me. (this was yesterday) To say that i HATED the effect would be a gross understatement. The only benefit i could gain from taking that medication were if i was auditioning for the latest zombie film. i would surely get the part, and perhaps even win an oscar! Horribly detached, incredibly spacey, irritable and drowsy, eye lids and limbs felt heavy and did little all day but sit and stare off into space. when someone could actually get my attention i would snap at them..it was just a very unpleasant feeling (to say the least) it was all i could do to even dial the phone to call my psyche's office to get another appointment. I go in tonite to see him again, and i'm going to insist that i return back to my adderall, the lessening effect had to be bc i was sick. i experience this effect also during my cycle so i'm used to that...but metadate just sucks big red festering baboon ***! (at least for me!) but what concerns me is the hesitance for my doc to increase my dose of the XR. I've read here many times that people take more than the 30mg. My question is to anyone taking more than 30mg Adderall XR what is your dosage? Was your Dr supportive of higher dosing? and any advice on how to approach my Dr on the possibility of raising the dose in the future should i possibly build a tolerance.

Much of the reccomended information was written for studies with children, and even in the write up it describes for adults there is no additional benefit from 20mgs. That is why so many docs are hesitant - as they are "by the book". If your 30 mgs isn't cutting it ask for a small dose of say 10mgs of IR, this will bring you up to at least 40mgs. I am not sure why Shire can't republish the materials with adult appropriate dose reccomendations.

As weird as it sound I am on adderall 30 xr once at 7 am then another at 1230. it does seem to help me be somewhat consistant . I was concerened I would not sleep but I lhave no probem.
