Just curious as I started adderall xr @ 15mg for 2 weeks and now have been upped to 30MG.

The pharmacist actually gave me 15mg's but twice as much and i'm supposed to take 2 at a time.

I was wondering when you take the XR, how does it work? Do you get 30MG released instantly and then another 30MG few hrs later or is it 15MG and then another 15MG later?

The release is half the total mg initially, then half about 4 hours later. So if you're taking 30 mg, that would be like taking 15 mg IR, then a second dose of 15 mg IR.

Rate of release can be affected by what else you might be taking, metabolism, diet, etc.

I started about a month ago, 10mg XR for a week, 20mg XR for a week, and then my dr. increased the dose to 15mg XR twice a day.

I found it was really helping, but didn't last as long as I needed. My days are usually split up, with early morning and then late afternoon or evening work, school, studying, etc.

I think my concern is that I started at 15MG XR which seemed to be effective for the first few days...

however by the end of the week I don't feel its even effective anymore... i assume this is why i've been upped to the 30MG of XR

I'm afraid that after a week or two 30MG will be the same and that its the highest dose of XR.. i'm in Canada so IR is not available..
