I have had ADD my whole life.
I have severe depression too. I take 4 medications per day but 5 pills. I am taking strattera and adderall for my ADD and celexa for my depression. I used to take concerta but became addicted to it as a stimulant and never slept. I am not sure how I feel about my new medications I think they are working. I'm doing better.

Silly question: why is this is in the Adderall forum? Are you a marketer for Shire planning to say "95% of surveyed AD[H]D patients take Adderall for their condition."
:D

I suppose you're right. I just want to make sure I'm not the only ADDer who hasn't been on a plethora of medications and so forth. Feel free to answer the thread. I look forward to reading it.

Okely dokely!
Combined (?), life (how could it not be for life?)
Laziness, MDD (remission), migraines (gone: knocks on wood)
3
Dex Span 15mg x3 (or x4, prn) qd am, Wellbutrin XR 300mg qd am, metoprolol XL 50mg qd pm
A long list. Just for ADD: Adderall XR, IR, Concerta, Strattera, methylphen
Strattera, I prefer not having a constant pain in my penis. The rest? Dunno; whim?
Meh. I wish they help with procrastination.
ADHDTigger 02-10-09, 12:55 PM 1. I have AD/HD Hyperactive/Inattentive subtype and have had it for all my life- diagnosed at age 4, just prior to beginning kindergarten.
2. If applicable, I have other co-existing disorders such as depression according to the pshrink. I don't think that is accurate but due to recent life changes, may be.
3. I take 2 medications per day, beginning on the 12th of Feb.
4. I am taking Adderall for ADHD, will begin Zoloft for depression.
5. I used to take Ritalin, Mellaril, back to Ritalin.
6. The reason why Mellaril was discontinued was because it was a shot in the dark and the wrong med for the condition- this was 1968 or 69. Ritalin was resumed because it actually worked. Ritalin was discontinued in the mid 70's as it was then believed that after a certain age ADHD was no longer an issue. Rediagnosed in 2003 and treated with Adderall.
7. Are you happy with your current medications? Adderall IR is generally effective but I need to be mindful of when and how I take it. I haven't begun the Zoloft yet and am not anxious to add an SSRI. Hopefully it will be okay.
If you want an update, feel free to PM me.

5. I used to take __(RX)___,
I used to take Seroquel, Ritalin, Vyvanse, and Lamictal
6. The reason why _(RX)__ was discontinued was because_________,

The reason why Vyvanse was discontinued was because it gave me severe anxiety
The reason why Lamictal was discontinued was because it gave me a rash
7. Are you happy with your current medications?
Overall I am pretty happy with my current medications. It just sucks that I have to take so many.
hannielaggie 02-10-09, 03:37 PM Lamictal does a lot of crazy stuff. Sorry that you got a rash with it. I've been on it for nearly 2 years and I've yet to experience a rash effect, thank God.
Good Luck though.
hannielaggie 02-10-09, 03:41 PM If you want an update, feel free to PM me.
Why are you concerned with the use of an SSRI concurrent with Adderall?
Prozac along with Adderall XR has done wonders for me.
I look forward to your reply and thank you for responding to my thread.

7. Are you happy with your current medications?
Yes, so far, it has been successful in slowing down my brain. I focus better at work. Patience has improved. Has not impacted my sleep so far. Very minor impact on appetite. Some reduction in libido (hopefully, this will begin to wane). Don't take it on weekends. Will discuss switching to IR with doc to see if this gives me more flexibility. Both my doc and psychologist feel that I can take meds as needed for now.

Flexibility in what sense?
Flexibility on when and how much I take. For instance, there may be days when I might like to only take a morning dose and skip the afternoon dose depending on what I need to accomplish at work that day. With the XR, I can not do that. Also, there are times when I think my ADHD brain can be an asset so maybe I take that day off completely. Just part of the trial and error process to see how I can manage my symptoms with minimal use of meds.

4. adderall

6. straterra had nasty side effects including extreme irritability, and most annoyingly it had really bad sexual side effects. Stopped ritalin because of the crash and headaches
7. yeah, I love adderall so far. I don't have any side effects and the come-down is a lot easier.
PolkaDotCom 02-25-09, 02:15 PM 1. I have AD/HD ________ subtype and have had it for (days, months, years),
Combined; all my life. Dx several times, age 13, 16, 17, 19, 24, 25, 26, 27, Battled with denial for most of my life, never recieved sufficient treatment until my current doctor.
2. If applicable, I have other co-existing disorders:
Generalized anxiety and dysthymia, both as a result of years of mistreteated ADHD.
3. I take _____ medications per day:
Two. 20mg XR, 10 mg IR on school nights; 50mg Sertraline (Zoloft).
4. I am taking _____ for this disorder:
XR for ADHD, Zoloft for Anxiety.
5. I used to take ______________.
Them all. Prozac, Effexor, Zoloft, Paxil, Celexa, Lexapro, Strattera, Wellbutrin, Buspar.
6. The reason why __________ was discontinued was because ____________.
Many reasons. Some of them (Prozac, Zoloft) I wasn't in charge of my own medicals then (I was a teenager). Some of them (Lexapro, Paxil) because I ran out of insurance. Some of them because I felt they really didn't work (All of them, really. But mostly Lexapro, Celexa). Some of them (Strattera) because the side effects were too unbearable. I stopped Wellbutrin because my current doc suggested XR and said Wellbutrin was counterproductive towards my anxiety.
7. Are you happy with your current medications?
Yes. It's been two months, and I feel my life is headed in a completely different direction. I believe I'm having issues with tolerance (?) (or whatever goes on up there), but as a whole I'm both pleased with and motivated by the current results.
somuchbetter 02-26-09, 02:02 AM Well this is kinda fun!
1. I have AD/HD combined subtype and have had it for ever, but I got diagnosed in October 2008.
2. If applicable, I have other co-existing disorders (any kind) such
as anxiety (social, generalized), post-traumatic stress
3. I take 1 medications per day, (on average)
4. I am taking 20 mg adderall IR per day for ADHD,
5. I used to take:
Lexapro, Zoloft, Effexor, Cymbalta, Celexa, Klonopin, Xanax, and Ritalin.
6. The reason why Lexapro was discontinued was because it made anxiety muchmuch worse, so much that my road rage would be out of control and no one understood a word I said, I felt like having a heart attack everyday.
Zoloft made me depressed and very sick, uncontrollable sweats and sometimes I would even mess myself or the bed in deep sleeps.
Effexor worked great for my mood, not for the anxiety, and gave me 'brain zaps'.
Cymbalta was mild, but it also made me sick and made me very emotional.
For Celexa, once I reached a steady dose, it never improved anxiety and some days I would be so sick in bed I couldn't stand up without getting ridiculously dizzy. It also made me depressed.
Klonopin and Xanax I still have in my medicine cabinet, but I haven't had the need to touch them. Klonopin helps with insomnia though, which I get about once a year.
All of these anti-depressants and awful side effects, and all doctors STILL suggest them. They also monitored for bipolar disorder but I don't get depressed without meds.
Ritalin was discontinued because it made me very serious, heavy feeling, kind of sad and hopeless feeling... and also some headaches right in my temples and behind my eyes. It also made me very very drowsy.
7. Are you happy with your current medications?
Yes!! Finally! NO side effects! I still don't know if my current dose is correct or not, mostly because I live and work alone, and so I don't have much to compare it to, other than when I am in conversation. I concentrate better on slightly higher dosages, but I find that it is very difficult for me to switch tasks, and I also get kind of irritable. I'm still new to it so we'll see!:)
I still get anxious when I've been working too much, but that almost helps me get more done...
RedSkittles 02-26-09, 02:22 AM 1. I have AD/HD ADHD subtype and have had it for years(days, months, years),2. N/A3. I take 2 medications per day,4. I just started it today and so far I am feeling pretty good and I have been somewhat productive today (as of 10:55A) :-).
