Does anyone know or have any information regarding the use of cigarettes/nicotine in conjunction with stimulant ADHD meds? I don't know if cigarettes are more likely to increase the effectiveness or decrease the effectiveness.

Whether I take Adderall/Concerta/Vyvanse they all increase my urge to smoke cigarettes. I feel that when I smoke cigarettes however that the effectiveness of the meds diminishes.

I know the likely answer is to just stop smoking (believe me I'm trying), but I was wondering if there are any theories regarding interactions between stimulants and cigarettes? Anything scientifically related to DATs, DA, NE, NATs, or anything like that?

Or does anyone have any experience regarding this?

Thanks in advance!

I know that smoking can speed up the clearance of several different medications, but I haven't read anything indicating that this is the case with any stimulants so far. Of course, I may be mistaken, heh.

When I quit smoking, I felt that Ritalin did not work as well. Wellbutrin replaces whatever cigarettes did to my brain and seems to make the Ritalin work better.
