Is there a 'vitamin' besides L-tyrosine that increases the production of dopamine (or however it exactly plays a positive role in one's dopamine levels)?

Thanks =)

Food sources of dopamine increasing tyrosine include almonds, avocados, bananas, dairy products, lima beans, pumpkin seeds, and sesame seeds.
Dopamine is easily oxidized. Foods that are rich in antioxidants such as fruits and vegetables may help protect dopamine-using neurons from free radical damage. Many healthcare professionals recommend supplementing with vitamins C, vitamin E, and other antioxidants.
Foods such as sugar, saturated fats, cholesterol, and refined foods interfere with proper brain function and can cause low dopamine. Consumption of saturated fats and cholesterol should also be reduced because they can clog the arteries to the brain, heart, and other organs.
Caffeine must also be avoided by persons with depression. Caffeine is a stimulant which initially speeds up neurotransmission, raises the amount of serotonin, and temporarily elevates mood.

Awesome, thanks for that information. However, I think the "Consumption of saturated fats should also be reduced because they can clog the arteries to the brain, heart, and other organs." has never been proven, and is deemed a correlation than a causation. I could be wrong though.

Over consumption of saturated fat is bad. Some sources of saturated fats such as coconut oil are extremely good for you. It is when the fat is bastardized by being hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated that things get extremely dangerous in the fat consumption department.

As far as supplements go, Tyrosine and Phenylalanine (if you are not one of those who do not process PA properly) would appear to be beneficial as daily supplements for those who take stimulants. Tyrosine and Phenylalanine can both cause side effects, so Google and your (probably ignorant) doc should be consulted.

A supplement that I have had extremely good results from for A.D.D. symptoms lately is called Cognitex from Life Extension. Cognitex contains Uridine, which can cause Gout-like symptoms in susceptible people, so Google Uridine and puridines for more information. I have developed what may be a related symptom in my wrist, but the results are so good that I am researching various supplements to try to counteract the wrist pain so that I can continue the Cognitex. My husband has used the Cognitex for about a month with no side effects at all. Your mileage may vary, of course.
