HI. I am taking 20mg IR for about 1 year how. I was getting my real good focus without any significant side effect. Roughly about 3 weeks ago I stop taking my adderall as the semester was over for 2 weeks. I started back for a week now and my adderall seems to be absent in my system. I am able to stay up but won't be able to focus. whats the deal?

did i develop a tolerance for this dose?

My diet changes included lot of meat, Choclate and soda.. all acids producers so should i try alkalizing my GI tract for better absorption?

Thanks for your help

Sam

I notice you mentioned "I am able to stay up". Are you using stimulants to stay awake longer than is normal? Perhaps to study? Though I don't have any studies to show this, anecdotal stories from a number of folks here on the board seem to suggest that as you increase your sleep debt, the drugs become less effective. They definitely work best on a well rested person.

blue roo,

I think alot of people start thinking that their med is losing effectiveness during the mid day but then titrate up and although they get better symptom control they run into going to bed a few hours later than normal , hence they do start to residually gain a bit of a sleep debt over time when when the medication becomes more effective. I know that for ritalin this is not necessarily true but with adderall the more increases in dosages mean the longer the medication lasts..... Its just one of those things I suppose but usually I would have to agree with you that sleep debt is probably a factor when medication becomes less effective over time.
