Hello all! I wanted to relate my experience with Adderall and my vision troubles in case it helps someone.
I had Lasik surgery about a year ago. At the time, I was taking Adderall XR, 10 mg daily, and I noticed that I do not heal very well at all while I take it. So, when I had my surgery, I did not take it for several days after, and not on the day of surgery either. What I did not realize is that you actually heal from Lasik surgery for about a year. It takes that long. Anyway, I have since had what I believe to be less success from my Lasik surgery than the average person, due to the Adderall slowing and meddling with the ability of my eyes to heal properly. My problems are particularly noticeable at night, and/or after being under fluorescent light for a few hours. Double vision around anything like stoplights (while red or green), oncoming headlights, and the tail lights of cars in front of me is pretty well making night driving dangerous for me. This problem improves when I do not take my meds, but it is still a problem. When I do take the meds, it is REALLY a problem.
So, although I would not hesitate to have this surgery again, I would recommend to anyone considering it that they avoid their medication for as long as possible both around the time leading up to and after the surgery. This is not as much of a problem if I take Dexamphetamine, but it is still as much of a problem on Vyvanse (go figure).
Cheers!
