Can anyone relate???

My son is 9yrs old, he is Excellent in Math/Science & pretty good in Social Studies...but READING!!!! Can not comprehend anything he reads.... This years teacher is wonderful to him, and we have figured out that as we study and study and study for tests...he can not pass without someone actually reading the questions and answers (if multiple choice) to him. and when it comes to a reading test? well the school insists they can help him when it is a reading test---I understand that, but???? Currently we do not have an IEP or 504 or anytype of plan for him at school, but I am pushing it because what happens next year...

Anyone any advice???

Thanks.
Michelle

Hi BadKat. I am new to this ADD things as my daughter (7) has only been diagnosed for about 2 weeks. I have already signed her up for the 504 plan. And if I were you I would FIGHT THE BATTLE. After reading your post I really understand a appreciate the 504 plan. I think that this plan (someone correct me if i'm wrong) is a law type thing and that ALL schools must have this plan. I could be wrong but I beleive this is what the special ed teacher told me. Good luck to you and please keep me informed as I feel ALL CHILDREN HAVE A RIGHT TO EDUCATION.
