i have been taking wellbutrin for only 2 weeks and want to stop taking it... not liking the side effects... its just making me feel worse. im going to call my dr to ask if i can stop it and take a break from any more meds. does anyone know if its necessary to wean myself off of it after taking it only for 2 weeks or will i be able to just stop taking it? i took 150mg sr for a week and then 300 mg for the last couple of days.

The first 2 weeks are the toughest and you are likely feeling "speed-like" effects. However, the med does become more theraputic once the body adjusts. I felt as you did, but I toughed it out for another week and I was glad I did, for that's when I began to notice the benefits. WB is an odd med, it is a stimulant and an antidepressant, but as with any stim - the side effects are expereinced until the body adjusts; however, like an antidepressant - WB needs time to build up in your system.

Agree call your Dr. I've read that when WB is stopped abrubtly, some people go into withdraw (headaches, etc.; here is an article where Jack Black described quiting WB being harder then quitting Cocaine/Heroin [http://www.nj.com/entertainment/celebrities/index.ssf/2008/07/jack_black.html] Therefore, your Dr. may suggest slowly reducing the dose. I am not sure how long one has to be on it to expreince withdraw.
