Hey everyone,
This is my first post here, and I'm just trying to figure out what's going on. I was newly-diagnosed with ADHD this past January and I've been on Ritalin since my diagnosis. I started off at 10 mg two times a day, moved to 10mg three times a day, and was most recently at 15 mg three times a day over a month-and-a-half time span. I called the doctor today to update him on my symptoms and he asked if my medication seemed to be working, and left a message saying that it sort of worked, but I wasn't seeing the effects I had wanted to see. The nurse called me back and said that the doctor told me to stop taking the medication completely, that "there's no use in taking anything if it's not going to work."
Here's my question: couldn't he have increased my dosage to 20 mg 3x a day? Could he have prescribed me with an alternate medication? Or, should I wait a few days and (hopefully!) notice that the Ritalin WAS indeed working, that I just had different expectations?
Any help would be greatly appreciated, and my thanks in advance.
