I'm so freaked to try this medication - never been on any med before. My dr. originally prescribed Concerta XR 27mg, and insurance did not cover - so now she changed it to this - but I think that might be a high dose to start - but can you effectively cut in half and have the extended part work?

Splitting XR/ER medication can reduce the effective time frame.

20mg for an ER medication is a low dosage.

Methylin is a generic form of Methylphenidate (i.e., Ritalin). Some people take 20mg of Ritalin IR in a single dose, so a 20mg ER dose is quite small.
