I feel that my 7 (almost 8)year old son has adhd everything i have read so far including the if you have more than "x" amount of the situations then the chances are that you have it . ALL apply.. :(
im at my wits end trying to deal with him and his teachers they keep yelling about the missed classroom work cause it takes him along time to complete.
i was just wondering if anyone has any ideas on what all i should expect from the Dr. is there a lot of tests that will need to be run.

thanks in advance

Hello!

What type of doctor are you going to see? If you are seeing a general practitioner, you will probably be asked to fill out some questionnaires and to send some to your child's teacher. Once those are reviewed, your gp may refer you to a psychologist for further testing.

If you are going straight to a psychologist you can expect to do a historical intake first. Then there will be tests, and what tests are done depends on the psychologist. Some testing that you should consider requesting would be CAPD screening, a Continuous Performance Test, there are three major ones - Conners CPT, TOVA and the IVA.

Some psychologists like to do IQ and achievement testing as well, these tests can help tease out other possible co-morbid learning disabilities.

Let me know what type of doctor, and I can respond more directly. Good Luck you are on the road to discovery...........
