To anyone with the ability to write creatively, I could use some advice. I speak from my heart and mind very effectively. one of the problems I have is the words come to fast for me to write them down...

Anyone else experience this? If so, what do you do to help capture all the words so you can actually put them on paper?

I use voice recorder and transcribe later. Lots of cell phones have that feature now. If I have something at night, I don't have to turn on the light & write, the phone has a backlight so I can navigate the menus. I whisper so as not to freak out my husband and the quality is pretty good. If you don't have that feature on your phone, the ones they sell at office supply chains are pretty cheap and digital now, so no tiny tapes to fool with.

I find I can keep up best with the what comes to me by typing on the computer. I can type faster than I can write so this method works well for me. I do a lot of writing in my joural, but most of the time that is just about me and less creative stuff. I have never tried voice recording, though.

I have used the brain to keyboard method, but I tend to get too hung up on editing instead of just letting ideas flow to my fingers. Things end up feeling too polished and contrived.
The voice recorder works great because I always have the phone nearby. The only drawback I can think of is hearing so much of my own voice. :o

I think I am with FlakeyGirl on this...it's not just the words, but the number of thoughts at once. Attaching a firehose to a gardenhose is one analogy...a lot of water and a little pipe...

I sure do understand your analogy, but sometimes it's even like trying to attach one gardenhose to three of them. :dizzy:

When it is flowing, it is flooding. If it is not flowing, it is so quiet in my head, I can hear crickets chirping.

Imagine how much is lost in your mind...meaning it never gets out so the world can enjoy it...

Take a shorthand class???

OR dictate to someone ELSE...Let THEM do the writing....while you dictate....

Oh, I don't lose much. I can just blab away at my little recorder. I just wonder how much of it is fit for human consumption.

I like that joan, I definitely could use a personal assistant.

So if a person with ADD had a personal assistant with ADD, would the assistant with ADD need an assistant? Or would they need two?
