View Full Version : Can I have whey protein with adderall cinfid12 03-22-09, 02:07 AM Hi I was just wondering is it ok to have whey protein with adderall? The reason why I say this is because I know there is tyrosine in whey protein. I just don't want my heart to start pounding thanks tlhengel 03-22-09, 11:32 AM I drink a lot of protein shakes and have never had any problems. Not sure about the whole tyrosine thing. I know someone else mentioned that a lot of protein shakes contain Vit. C. Mine doesn't but you should probably check the label to make sure what you get doesn't have any in it. JWhitt 03-22-09, 06:37 PM I don't see why not. You're not going to really experience any side effects. They don't tell you to avoid eating steak (which has a lot of tyrosine in it) when you're on adderall so a protein shake should be A-OK. jW stillfightin 03-22-09, 06:56 PM SHould be okay! DarkCode 03-22-09, 09:12 PM I take 2 scoops of Nitro-Tech with 24oz's of skim milk. Works out great. Make sure to replenish your carbohydrates after you workout. Take the protein 25-35 mins after you finish working out, after that it loses its effectiveness. For instance, I'll workout, have a Powerbar before, maybe 2, with 8-16oz of Gatorade, then bring a water with me to the gym. I'll be there for 2 hours sometimes. I'll do whatever muscle group is for that day, or multiple groups, and then I always do abs every time I go. Make sure to not let your diet get affected by the Adderall, you need to eat good and eat enough, don't skimp, eat small meals throughout the day. Keeps your metabolic rate up, and your energy level / blood sugar stable. You'll find less problems with sleep at night as well if you implement a bit of cardio into your routine as well. Don't just buy regular whey protein either. You need some of the other kinds that help with the deliver of the whey protein and amino acids into the muscles. You'll end up losing a lot of protein if you don't - pooping it out. And you won't find yourself gaining a lot of muscle - very minimal results compared to just working out without taking anything. Go to GNC first week of the month and have a Gold Card, get your protein that way, and save a bunch of money. Nitro-tech works great, so you can look into this, and you can stack it with Cell-Tech, and other products. Also make sure your not buying weight gainer either, you don't want any of that. ecu20 03-22-09, 10:50 PM Don't just buy regular whey protein either. Aww man, you bought into the marketing hype too? Plain old whey protein/whey protein isolate is just as good as all the other "shiny flashy" proteins, and probably have more of the stuff you need in it for cheaper! Whey protein is whey protein and is fine regardless of if it's Opt. Nut, ISS, BSN, GNC, All the Whey, or Cytosport brand. The only difference is the technique the whey is extracted, with the three different major ones being Whey protein Isolate, Concentrate, and Casein. You need some of the other kinds that help with the deliver of the whey protein and amino acids into the muscles. You'll end up losing a lot of protein if you don't - pooping it out. And you won't find yourself gaining a lot of muscle - very minimal results compared to just working out without taking anything. 100% untrue. What you're referring to is the hydrolyzation technique, where the whey protein (usually isolate) is treated with the digestion enzyme protease, which just shortens up the polypeptide chains through digestion, which can be absorbed "faster" from the stomach into the blood because it's already broken down. It hasn't been proven to effect musle growth faster or more than regular whey, but it is more expensive when bought predigested.. Go to GNC first week of the month and have a Gold Card, get your protein that way, and save a bunch of money. GNC's a ripoff, try a site i've used forever called nutraplanet, you'll save tons of $$ even when paying for shipping. Nitro-tech works great, so you can look into this, and you can stack it with Cell-Tech, and other products. Also make sure your not buying weight gainer either, you don't want any of that. Nitro-tech = waste of money. Just buy the more reasonably priced protein. It works just the same, except it doesn't lighten up your wallet as much :). Trust me, I went through the hype experience in supplements also, I know how it was :). ecu20 03-22-09, 10:52 PM I take 2 scoops of Nitro-Tech with 24oz's of skim milk. Works out great. Agreed, except the accepted window of time is any time within 30 minutes post workout. (t+0:00-t+30:00). I'll do whatever muscle group is for that day, or multiple groups, and then I always do abs every time I go. Cmon, everyone knows abs are made in the kitchen ;):D |
