Im very newly diagnosed with ADD and have started taking Adderall. I take 10mgs around 8am, 10 mgs around 12pm and 5mgs around 4. Its not enough so Im playing with that a little bit. What Im concerned about is that my anxiety level is definately going up. In the mornings I am horribly nauseous (no Im not prego). Im considering asking to be put on welbutrin also. Any body have any experience with adderall and welbutrin? What side effects do you notice if any and what advise can you give me.
I think a great deal of the anxiety is just from being diagnosed and I have an appointment with my therapist tomorrow but I still think it might be a good idea to think about adding something else.
I also want to know if anyone else has a harder or easier time of coming up with the right word you want to say when you are on adderall? Im finding it more difficult. Im almost embarrassed to have a conversation with anyone right now because this is happining every couple words. Im not sure if its the anxiety or the adderall.
Thanks for any and all input.

Welcome and congrats on your diagnosis. As always it is always best to check with your prescribing psychiatrist regarding dose and side affects. I am on 20 mg 5 times a day of adderall. Last September my psych added wellbutrin, I had a horrible reaction, became paranoid and started to hallucinate. My doc decided I had an allergic reaction to the Wellbutrin. I think it works well in some people and can make you a bit euphoric when you first start it. If your doc reccomends it and you want to try the combination just be certain to keep him updated on your side affects. When you first start adderall or until you get the right dose all kinds of funky side affects are possible. take care and good luck

Sometimes also until you get the right dose you can experience anxiety this usually does not last and goes away in a few weeks or less, as always check with your doctor and see what he says about the anxiety, wellbutrin can cause extreme anxiety as well in the beginning, something to consider though
Hey Only1Jomo,
Great to hear on the diagnosis. I've taken adderall for many years and have had numerous experiences at all levels. I took tremendous caution when I started taking alot of adderall. I found for me adderall to be very powerful and it really influenced me positively, but also negatively the higher I moved my dosages. I couldn't take adderall 3 times a day because my anxiety levels sky rocketed. For me adderall was both good and at times not so good. Adderall really helped me to write though, if there was one thing adderall did pretty consistently for me and it was giving me a mind to write and organize my thoughts.
I thought adderall was a great ADD med, one of the best, but I struggled with alot of the side affects and stopped taking it. I hope adderall works for you!!
All the best,
Scott

I have this too. It's called dysnomia and it's a side effect of Adderall. Mine seems to be improving with time.

IME, adding Wellbutrin to a stimulants only intensifies side effects...

I have anxiety and ADHD, except my anxiety is due to my ADHD. Stimulants either speed you up or slow you down. It slowed me down, figuratively. At first it was strange to feel so ... drowsy and foggy almost. Ritalin and Adderall both did this, but the ritalin gave me a heavy feeling whereas Adderall makes me feel a little clearer, more physical energy.
After some time you just learn to deal with these weird side effects. I just accept the slowness of my words as patience.... with myself! I just take a deep breath and realize I'm in no hurry and it doesn't matter if I need a second to find the right word. It has actually made me a better verbal communicator. It's almost like the meds amplify all the things that have been a problem for me, and now I have the patience and focus to deal with them. Another strange one I've had is jaw clenching. I've just learned to relax my jaw when I notice it happening. They are all things I can control, at least.
In terms of the nausea, are you eating properly? Getting enough sleep? If you think about it though, a lot of medications (even simple painkillers) can cause nausea. Unless its unbearable or you're vomiting, I would give that some time and try to just be healthier in general.
If the stimulants are making you more anxious, then your doctor may put you on Wellbutrin, but I doubt he would put you on both. That's like taking an upper with a downer, I think, I'm not sure though.
Good luck!
