I know that antidepressants can make people gain weight and make you tired where as adderall makes you more awake and lose weight(most of the time). If I went on an antidepressant and adderall...would it be likely that I would become tired or gain weight even while on a stimulant? The only reason I refuse antidepressants (I did try one though) is because of those 2 side effects. I have a fear of gaining weight and I know that if I were on a medication that made me gain weight I would become depressed and go off. Is anyone on both?? I need to know what would happen.

Depends on what the antidepressant is- I've been on Lexapro with Adderall and definitely no weight gain. Same thing with Effexor and Adderall. I think stimulants cancel out any increased appetite you might have with antidepressants. Although certain drugs can cause weight gain regardless of whether you have an increased appetite and eat more.
Which one are you on?
I'm curious about this too. I could also never tolerate those side effects, and I need my Dex to keep working (unless I want to lose my job). It's possible for antidepressants to make you gain weight even if you aren't eating more, so I don't know if stims could prevent that. I was on Lexapro for a few weeks and it didn't make me hungrier, but it was damn near impossible to lose weight. Of course, I wasn't on stims at the time, but I'm kinda curious who would win in a fight: stims or ADs?

That's weird, I think everyone's different metabolism is a factor. I lost weight when I started with Lexapro. In fact the combo of Adderall and Lexapro made me almost starve to death, the thought of eating was so sickening.

I am not on any antidepressants I am only on adderall. I would have went on antidepressants long ago if they didn't have a high risk of weight gain. Fact of the matter is when I am heavy, I am not happy. I am very very body conscious and I don't want to go on a pill that could make me even more depressed if I gain weight (which many people do). I know wellbutrin has a low weight gain risk but I think I have anxiety disorder as well as depression and I have heard wellbutrin doesn't help anxiety. I don't know if the adderall weight loss effect will cancel out the A.D weight gain effect...or vice versa.

I really think that stimulants cancel out weight gain, the only way to know is to try it and see. The SSRIs are supposedly the worst ones for weight gain, but Lexapro is an SSRI and it made me not hungry at all.
Certain meds, like prednisone (steroids), etc. will make you gain weight no matter what. But I think that antidepressants cause weight gain because they turn on your appetite. If you can ignore that and not eat more, you should not gain weight. There is nothing in them that automatically causes weight gain.
And you're right, Wellbutrin is bad for anxiety. Prozac is good for anxiety and depression and supposedly causes some weight loss. Lexapro, which I take, is for depression and anxiety and I've had good results, no weight gain and in fact weight loss.
lexapro and vyvanse here...no weight gain.
previously I was on lexapro only and I ended up losing weight, when I had anxiety I used eat junk to feel better, and lexapro took that away
